Had a decent little session tonight. Won about 1.5 buyins in ~350 hands. Nothin' huge but definitely better than losing.

Here's a graph if it matters.
Image

The pieces of the new home theater I am building have started to arrive. Today the projector came in.

Tomorrow the material I ordered from Home Depot is supposed to arrive so that I can begin building the screen this weekend. A friend of a friend who works at a place that sells metal dropped off my 1" square aluminum tubing tonight which I will be using to construct the frame of the screen this weekend. Here is a link to how to construct the screen I am making. After you click on it, scroll down a bit to see the aluminum one.

Mine will be a 100" diagonal 16:9 screen with an additional 3" black border around the outside edge of it. Should be sweeeeeeet!!!

The receiver I bought should arrive next week. Here's a link.

I already have a Denon DVD player which is cool since it will match this kickass receiver I bought. I already have speakers for the surround sound setup so no immediate need to spend money on that yet.

So far I've spent about $2300 on the electronics and screen and another $250 on a HUGE beanbag (foam actually) chair for the kids. Now just have to finish making the room look a bit more theater-like and buy some really comfortable chairs. The Direct TV dude will FINALLY be here this Saturday to get me all hooked up with the HiDef shit. That should be VERY TITE!!!!

If I am not sitting around watching movies and football on a glorious 100" screen in HD come Christmas morning, someone is gonna die.

How many tables can you fit onto that screen?

This was a complete waste of time. I feel poorer than the nickel I lost overall just for having had to sit through a really boring cold deck of cards for the most part. Lost most all of my profit on a flush over flush hand which totally put me in a bad mood.

I have not played very much the 2nd half of this month. Only 2 sessions since the 15th. Still, looks like I may finish the month in the black poker wise. Have another 2 buyins worth of RB so far as well. May not be a super month but sure is loads better than last month.
Image

After running real hot in October, then ice fucking cold in November, coming back with a winning month in December at the very least gives me an excuse to continue playing in the new year. Almost 30k hands of NL25 6max so far. I'm now playing 6-8 tables most of the time and not losing my ass at it (not winning gigantically either though) so I may start taking a couple of shots at the next level every now and then in 2008.

ITEMS OTHER THAN POKER:

Christmas has finally come and gone at work. I sure do hate working at the post office during December.

As I said in my last post, we (wife, me and kids) decided to build a home theater this year and forgo presents for each other. So far it has come along quite nicely and is in unfinished but working condition at the moment. I cannot begin to tell you just how much nicer it is to watch movies and TV now. To put it mildly, it's AWESOME!!!! And considering it costs us (family of 4) about ~$60 to go to the movies at the regular movie theater, this new home theater will have paid for itself in just a couple of months. We watched at least 4 movies on Christmas day, so I'm figuring that at about a $200+ savings. Except for special occasions where we just feel like we want to leave the house to go to the movies (the wife's words, not mine) I see us spending a SHITLOAD LESS money at the theater in 2008!!! WOOT!!! This has to be the most +EV Christmas gift I have ever bought. All total to date, I have almost $2.5k invested in it which is less than some 60" plasmas go for WITHOUT the surround sound system. And I have a 100"+ screen size!!!
It's amazing really, the picture is so clear and bright (even with the lights on at the back of the room). And a good and powerfull surround sound system really makes it tick.

I still have yet to hook the laptop up to the projector Northy, but with resizeable tables, I'm guessing 12-16 tables should be playable. I'll keep you updated on this when I try it. I may even post some pics of that.

OH, how lovely it is to be back in the graces of Lady Luck!!!
January has so far played out like October did. Hopefully it will keep up. I would like to think I have improved some what over the last 31k hands. But I have definitely gotten lucky on a few hands lately which have really helped the bottom line. But on the other hand, as bad as I ran in November and parts of December, I was totally due to get some luck going my way.
Anyhows, here are my graphs.

I don't get too many sessions like this one from tonight with so little time spent below even. I just love to stare at these kind.
Image

These next 2 show what I was saying earlier about how well January has started out. Just hope I don't trip up too badly the rest of the month.
Image
Image

And lastly, Project to Date. 31.2k+ hands. Definitely not exactly how I pictured in my head the way it would look when I first started this project. But the latest upward trend would definitely tend to make me think I have emerged on the other end of my bad run. Back where I started out the beginning of November almost. Looks even better when I add in the $200 in RB I have made on top of this. Granted I ain't in Twelver or Xaston territory yet, but it is still nice looking to me at my stakes.

How awful was my fold here? I can't believe I folded QQ preflop. The villains stats were 14/6 after about 100 hands and I didn't see him doing this with JJ or worse or AK. I've been in this situation so often lately and they never have less than KK or AA. But I figured I'd see what you guys think anyways.

Was my flop play (i know, fold preflop, yada yada) bad? Probably was I guess, but Villain had me pissed as he had kept floating me previously so I had finally had enough and decided that my FD was good enough that I decided I would gambool it up here. I know this wasn't a float he was doing this time but I wanted some pay back and was willing to take a chance. Was kinda nice getting doubled up when I had a stack already larger than full. Don't actually remember the last time I won a pot that was the size of 3 full stacks. Obviously he got pissed at my flop call when he lost and immediately started down the road of being a poker chat professor. So I told him I was takin his money and leaving to go watch tv. LOL, that went over real well, so I did just that.

I had meant to raise, but accidentally clicked call preflop. Then I maybe should have folded to the CR on the flop but didnt. Turn gave me enough outs that I wanted to see a river. All in all it worked out great but I doubt I played it correctly.
