Well, I like the start of January a lot better than I liked the end of December.

I won my first hand of 2008, which was cool.

I didn't play a ton today, but I played well and ran well. I realized that I was really going through the motions with my play the past few weeks, and not thinking about what I was doing and why I was doing things.

This, combined with flopping a bunch of sets and taking down a bunch of smaller pots, made for a good start to the year for me.

1650 hands (I was working on my game, multi-table ratio was only 4.5), 12ptbb/100 for a $200 win.

Also, new years celebration was really fun, just out to the bars with some good friends. Wear stupid hats, get stupid drunk etc.

I do most of the checking behind on paired flops when I completely miss or have trash, and if they check the turn I safely bet and take it down...

BET PAIRED FLOPS!!!

I pretty much always bet paired flops. Its mostly flops like 457 with a flush draw that I've been checking behind in. I bet every paired flop that I can get a bet into, especially limped pots when there arent a ton of people behind me. That is super profitable.

Don't CB when you miss, wait till you hit TPHK (KQ on Q high or K high board = NUTS) and just stack them left and right. Also, tighten up a bit so that you're only raising AT+, KQ+, 99+ if they're still to act so that you know that when you cb, you're probably going with the hand.

Oh, and DON'T SS them...they're a HUGE source of your profits.
