Alright, I'm posting this hand mostly as a question on my turn play.
Full Tilt Poker, $100 max (.5/1 Blinds)
I'm in the BB with 5[d]5[h]. UTG min raises it, making it 2 to go. UTG+2 re-raises making it $5 to go. Folds to me. I make a misplay here, first off. I have notes on UTG and one of the notes is that he min raises UTG with Q-Q. I didn't check my notes on him until later in the hand--my bad. Knowing this would you still call knowing that he has a premium pair in the hopes that he just smooth calls? Without having seen that note I know that I've seen lots of people make this play with suited connectors or hands similar to mine to build pots. My implied odds are fine for calling the raise because both my opponents are around full stacked. I call out of the BB and UTG calls.
Flop: K[s]9[s]5[s]
Pot: $15
So I've gone and pulled an Iceman by flopping a set on a flushed board. With the raise and the re-raise in front of me (I still haven't looked at my note on UTG yet) I lead out for $10 to see what happens (I like to play my sets fast against raisers). UTG calls and UTG+2 calls.
Turn: 4[h]
Pot:$45
At this point I look at my note on UTG as I'm concerned about being smooth called in both spots. I see the note on UTG and figure that he has a high pair with a spade. K-K would likely re-raise on the flop so I don't think I'm out-setted. What do I do here? I lead for $20 into the pot. Looking at that number makes me realize what a weak bet I threw out there. My thought at the time was to throw out a bet that wasn't pitiful, so that if someone had flopped the flush maybe I wouldn't get blasted out of the pot because they would be satisfied to continue to slowplay. Then I've given myself a chance (and odds) to boat up on the river. I'm called by both UTG AND UTG+2. Yikes!
River: 4[d]
Pot: $105
Wow. Talk about my money card! Now what to do? I'm sure I've been followed by a flush draw, but I'm sure there is at least 1 semi-made hand that is looking to showdown here. UTG has $55 left and UTG+2 has $65 left. What can I bet that I'll get called with? I settled on throwing out a $60 bet. I thought that if I bet small that it might look like I'm trying to milk them and I wasn't sure that a small bet would get re-raised by a made hand. Probably just get called by someone who wanted a cheap showdown. I ended up deciding to bet $60. UTG called and UTG+2 folded. It took awhile for me to settle on $60, so maybe the lapse of time before my action made it more callable 'cause it looked weaker? I dunno. I really think your reads can be aided by how much time someone takes before they take action. Anyways, UTG had A-A with the A of spades. UTG+2 claimed to have J-J with the J of spades. Too bad the river wasn't a 4[s]!
Anyways, hands like this are really tricky. I think if I made a major error on this hand it would probably be on the turn with the way I sized my bet, but any thoughts on the hand in general are welcome.
