Basketball? I hate basketball.

Actually - according to my wife:

Gabriel (eldest son) - Quarterback. He has a great spiral already and a good throwing arm. That said - he doesn't take a hit very well - so clearly a QB...

Guenevere (daughter) - Gymnastics, dancing, cheerleading. My wife and her youngest sister were both heavy into the combination of all three here. My daughter talks about going to dance class all the time (she doesn't have dance class I might add...) - even tells us about her classmates...

Grayson - Linebacker. For obvious reasons - he's a bruiser.

Personally - I'd be happy to see them in music or the medical profession - but what do I know...

And shortly after that - I'm in 5h chip position with just under 200 left. 50 get the $11 seat, 51-59 get the buyin back (70 FPP). Hopefully I don't blow it any time soon...

Well - I was getting low near the end - but I kept enough to survive. T11 added to my bankroll for later. If I can play that type of satellite more frequently - I might do the $11 rebuy from time to time...

I consider that satellite much better to play than the 70FPP 1-table satellite. It might take longer - but I find it is much easier to get into the top 10% of a large field than finishing 1st in a 10-player field.

Looks like I'll be making the money in the $0.50 tournament. I don't really have much money to gain from it unless I hit real high in the tournament - but it is still one of the few reasonable tournaments I feel comfortable playing with my current bankroll.

[s]Only 40 minutes into the $5 tournament I registered for. I was down as low as 800 or so - but I have recovered back up to 1500.[/s] Also I've already been knocked out of the $2 tournament - just didn't see anything going there. I guess I spoke too soon. Flopped a set versus a guy with aces and got it in on the flop. He hit his ace on the turn to knock me out. Blah.

Do you always play full ring, or is any of that 6-max?

My own LO8 stats are in the 27/12 range preflop for full ring, and for limits up to 10/20 my post-flop aggression is between 1.5 and 2 on all streets. My postflop aggro is a little higher at 15/30+, since the game is a lot more aggressive in general and pulling hands become pushing hands.

I think you should try to up your aggression prflop from late position with hands that play well given the action in front of you. At 1/2 and 2/4 you are going to find a mix of very bad players that will pay you off calling down on multiple streets. Reads are very important in LO8, and PT stats tell a great story. Post flop aggression factors much over 3 indicate someone that folds too much postflop. 50/2 pre-flop players should be isolated (to the extent possible at LO8) and punished. <1 post0flop aggro players should be value bet mercilessly and tif they play back expect strong 2 way hands, maybe even nut-nut.

PTO would be a sound investment - it is only about 14BB at 2/4, and will pay for itself in no time.

Put in a relatively short session last night. I played a $10+1 tournament with 10 minute blinds and got knocked out in the middle of the pack after about 45 minutes or so. I had a good number of good hands (QQs twice, KK, AKo twice, AKs twice, AQ, AJs, and 99, TT, 88), but for the most part didn't get much more than the blinds and maybe limper money in most of them. I got knocked out with the AJs hand when I was down to 8BBs and in the cutoff. Folded to me - I pushed. I got called by KQo and he hits a queen on the flop. Standard - it happens.

I played ~80 hands of Omaha Hi/Lo as well and finished up to the tune of around $20. My numbers in O8 are still not where I want them to be - but I think I am making solid progress on it.

Also decided to play one of the 4-table 375FPP turbo satellites to the Sunday Million. Again, I didn't really get much going and finished middle of the pack. In this I didn't really get any playable hands and played one suited connector from the button that cost me a bit. Other than that - it was just a "meh" tournament. I think I finished 26th or something like that. Nothing special.

On the side, I was looking at my VIP generation to see where I would hit this month. After 6 days of playing, I'm at a solid 700 base FPPs. Hitting silver star in other words will be a non-issue. That said - I don't think I'm anywhere near hitting gold star this month. Perhaps when I eventually move back up to $2/$4 I'll be getting enough, but it might just be that I won't hit it unless I pick up a third ring game table. All of this is fairly unimportant, but it does play a little bit of a role in the FPP satellites I'll pick up during the course of a week. I certainly wouldn't alter my game play to generate more (well - I suppose picking up a 3rd ring game table would be an alteration - but it would just mean playing 4 tables more frequently than I do now).
