I only called the small bet with AKs because I'm never keen on reraising in the blinds except with big PP's.

I flop the nut straight with 4 to an inside straight flush draw. Basically a perfect Omaha hand but with only 2 cards.

I bet such a small amount, as I would do in situations where theres a bet pre flop and I call with a pair, the set flops along with an ace and I intentionally bet small so I'm aised and I can reraise massively.

The raise to $5 is very disappointing, though I 'knew' that flop would lead to a raise. I accept the reraise to 10 was week but I was trying to provoke an all in.

I thought the K on the turn was a disaster and was hoping it wouldn't kill action, I manage to get the opponent all in, thinking a flush might have to win it for me on the river.

I was utterly gobsmacked when the ace came and put the nuts on the board.

My thinking on the flop was that it would be unlikely that I could get both opponents all in against me but I felt Colin would fall for it. I calculate that Colin has a 0.45% chance on the flop of the runner-runner for spilt.

I know the flop reraise to 10 was weak and a bit of a monster giveaway but I didn't want the flush to hit and freeze the action. How would any of you guys/gals have played this? I realise the trade-off between getting one player all in and trying to suck bets off both is a debate and I'm quite annoyed at my $2 bet on the flop, though you know my reasoning.

Not much you can do about the hand, it looks like a split but i didn't think it would take the board to do it.

The part I want to comment on is preflop. I've been fond of reraising any hand I would raise preflop to sissy raises. I think You can get away with $8 here when stack sizes are big. If it is a shorter stack for the game lets say $35 in a game where the max buy in is $200, I put them in, especially if there is dead money between me and the raiser. I will flip a coin in that size of game for up to $100 if I have a $300 stack and gladly suck up a loss with AK. The only reason to not reraise with AK is to attempt to trap A/JQ type hands, however I've found at 6 max it is easier to get weaker kicker aces commited by reraising preflop.

I under value AK, more than a lot of people unless I can get it heads up. If there are callers in between I'm trying to either get pushed off of it now, or get heads up with a late position raiser. Reraising preflop increases the chances of this and starts to kill implied odds of smaller pairs that might have limped.

You played just like I wouldve. I rarely reraise AK preflop unless its something like a min raise and 5 callers.
