I played a hell of a lot of poker on Sunday night and Monday after the last post. Not so much the past 2 days, but have been watching a lot of videos.

Sunday: I already posted the 1st couple of 1 hour PLO8 sessions above. Then I went back late for a 3-hour session to finish clearing the $75 bonus. I played the NL Capped 6-max game for the 1st time since January. I played super-tight and just wanted to break even and get the last $30 of the bonus. If I ever meet a Full Tilt representative in person, I'm going to hit them with a chair, then a shovel, then a bat in order to explain the real meaning of the word variance to them and also show them how playing on Full Tilt normally feels at the same time. What a friggen painful session.

I waited 295 hands before getting my 30BB's all-in to the pot preflop for the first time.

Then I waited about another 100 hands before I got all-in preflop again, vs the same exact player, with AA...AGAIN! He had....AA. Some asshole commented that we at least chopped the blinds. Uhm.....NO! We lost the rake.

Got it all-in preflop for the 3rd and final time. AK vs AK. Lost the rake again.

I eventually grinded out a $14.45 profit + $30 bonus due to this hand late on the single Full Ring talbe that was running....

Monday: Last Thursday, I started a 7-day free trial membership at PokerSavvy+. I started watching the MTT videos by Justin "WPThero" Rollo. I probably won't be keeping it beyond the 7 days. There just aren't that many videos and the video quality (meaning visual format) is pretty poor. They are only in streaming and during some of the multi-tabling videos I can barely see the cards. Also, a couple of videos just stop right in the middle.

However, the insights from the video has alerted me to many things I have been doing either wrong, or at least not to the best of my ability lately. More than anything else, I was really impressed with JRollo's attitude and patience. He didn't let the bad beats and losing hands affect his other play. It just seemed to roll off him and he took his time and did not make snap decisions. There were also several other concepts that the videos reinforced that I had gotten away from as well.

I believe I was playing too tightly in tournaments lately and was in an "afraid to lose" mindset. Many times this was putting me in a short stack scenario right after the 1st hour. I really think and hope this will put my MTT game back on track and I tested it out with 4 MTT's Monday night.

I only played 3 $10 MTT's so I wouldn't care about busting out to test out the new MTT me. I also was already registered for the $55 FTOPS LO8 satellite. I had absolutely no luck in that one. I did play for 5 hours though and cashed in 2 of the other 3 MTT's.

In the first one, the $20K $11 buyin on Stars, I played great and took a pretty tough beat a little after the bubble which should have tripled me up and put me in good position to go pretty deep into the money....

I think I made an error in Daily Double A on Full Tilt. I really think I misapplied something I was listening to. On one of the videos, JRollo says that it is probably almost never really a mistake to get it in with AK preflop and that you're probably losing equity if you actually fail to do so because you are only really crushed against AA. Even against KK you still have about a 30% chance.

But in the 2nd hour of DDA, I had accumulated a decent stack, over 5K with 50/100 blinds. However, I was now at a table where everyone had bigger stacks. It was a big stack table.

A bigger stack (8K) raised from up front. I re-raised in the BB to 1K. He shoved and I called 4.5K more to win 6.5K. I lost to KK. I think that deep it would have been either more prudent to either call and see a flop or re-raise and fold to the insta-push. Again, I just failed to stop and think as I swore I was going to on every decision from now on and it cost me.

In DDB, I finished 42 out of 1511. I had yet my 3rd AK vs KK confrontation. I lost the first one (KK vs AK and AT). I lost the 2nd one (AK vs KK). This time it was the same exact 3 hands as the 1st one. I was BB AK. OTB raised, SB shortie shoved, I shoved AK, OTB shoved. AK vs KK vs AT again and I finally won 1. AK won in both those confrontations. This pretty much made my tournament.

I ran into a spot getting in 77 vs 88 which just about cut my stack in half. Got away with several pushes until finally getting it in with A5 and losing to KQ.

Except for that single AK vs KK hand in DDA, I'm extremely happy with my play on the day and feel confident that something big is coming soon in terms of a big MTT cash.

Tuesday: I played my first regular FR NLHE session in about a month on Monday. It was at Stars and it was a somewhat NORMAL session. Only about an hour and a half in total. There were a couple of hands but people weren't going crazy and not everyone was slamming the flop every hand. It felt very comfortable.

I ended up getting coolered on 1 hand, but ONLY 1 hand. I also took QQ up against a maniac and I stacked him, as opposed to what happens on Full Tilt consistantly.

Interesting hands.......

Not really all that interesting, but a cooler. We had already PFRR'ed this player before with JJ. Some maniac in the SB came along for the cold-call with T7o too. I picked it up on a QQx flop. Now I re-raise this sLAGish player with QQ. He only has 30BB to start and just calls. I flop an overpair and he waits to check/call all-in with KK. Pretty silly since he only had $10 left after the re-raise and was allowing me to catch a cheap Ace if I had AK.

Here's an interesting hand though. OTB was fairly new to the table but had been fairly active so far. I flop top pair with a good kicker here. Obviously, if he has an Ace he beats me unless he has a trash kicker. I just thought that this could be QJ or T9 often enough that it justified a call of a small turn bet. If he had bet larger, I was done with it and I wasn't calling a river bet either. I don't now, I'm probably supposed to drop close to 40 BB here, no???....

---------------

Actually, that was really the only hand where I had a difficult decision. Other than that, here's the big hand of the tournament where I stacked the fish. If it had been Full Tilt I would have totally expected him to turn over KJ. Anyway, this was the difference between winning and losing for the session.....

Today: No actual playing. Trying to watch as many of the Poker Savvy vids as I can before the 7 day trial runs out. Was considering keeping it, especially since they don't charge that exhorbitant signup fee that all the other sites do, but the technical glitches with the videos just stopping and difficulty seeing the multi-tabling ones is just too much.

Also got a couple of things that I picked up from the Full Tilt store with my last remaining points today. I got one of those little stress squeezy rubber things. Cheap piece of shit is torn already and I haven't even played. I can't wait to start chucking it across the room.

Got the Full Tilt book too. I heard some good things about it. A lot bigger than I thought it would be. Like 500-600 pages or something. I can't seem to find the chapters about winning with the best hand on Full Tilt and how to play any two cards and get extremely lucky every flop by random full tilt fish.

Oh, and I guess it's not just happening to me or just at the low stakes. This would be pretty stunning anywhere else, yet surprisingly standard on Tilt......

Took a bunch more abuse from Full Tilt today. Spent the entire day playing satellites into this weekends FTOPS events. 10 in all. Got severly cold decked but what else is new.

Last was the $50 satellite into the $2500 event. 406 people, 12 get paid. I was actually the chip leader with 12K after the 1st hour. Was gone just after the 2nd hour.

I had 11,855 when I was moved to table 9, more than enough to make me the table leader. I won 4 pots in the last 128 hands and only 1 of those which saw a flop.

Best part of the day, with my stack slowly shrinking as everyone else is raising and re-raising all-in (several times there was a raise, re-raise, and cold-call preflop). I get stuck with 55 in the BB after a guy with 8BB open-raises from EP. I put him all-in and double him up. He had AT.

After that I make the remark: "Ok, who's next?"
Same guy says "Me again please."
So sarcastically, but not really, I say to him "Sure. Just make sure the next time I have AK, you have KQ."

I swear, not 5 minutes later, against this same guy.....

On a [4d][9c][8h] flop with 680 in the pot, the PFRer checks. I shove [6d][7d] for 2400. He snap calls with [Ad][Kd]. Whutz fold equity? Ace on the turn and I whiff.

Guy opens from hijack for 3xbb. CO calls. I have TT in SB and figure I'm ahead of his range. I shove. I'm wrong. Hijack has QQ.

Very next orbit. Same guy opens 3.5xbb from CO. I have AQ in BB. I figure, once again, I'm ahead of his range. This time he has TT. I lose flip.

I gotta show this hand because it's just stunning. This is what I'm up against. Look at this ingenius shove here.

The good thing is that I played mostly on Stars today and made up for it, booked small win.

Also decided to keep the PokerSavvyPlus account for a month.

Ok, actually I didn't "decide" to keep it, I just forgot to cancel after the 7 day trial. No big deal though because there's no signup fee. Also, they just got Matusow to do videos which is probably worth the $24.95 simply for the entertainment factor. Although he sucks online, he still has a pretty good poker mind and I think he might even be a winner in the Omaha games which is what he's doing.

All in all, put in 3 separate hour long sessions of 3 separate games today, all on Stars and made a very small profit in each session, which added up to.........still a small profit, but better than the pounding I've been taking on Full Tilt for the past 2 months.

1 hour HORSE - see above

1 hour PLO 6-max $25 - this is a new game for me.
Didn't know it was all this easy. Just wait for an idiot to do something really stupid and get it all-in with AAxx preflop. (Actually the original raise and the fact that I was double suited was what led me to even re-raise out of the SB in the first place, after that it was easy to shove.)

I did pay my stupid/learning tax though. Perhaps I over-value trips with 3 overcards to the board. Damn flush, I definitely should have folded that river. At first I thought I should have folded the turn raise to, but now I think calling was right with 9 outs. But hey, that's pretty good if I only made a single 40BB mistake tonight.

Finished with an hour of NLHE. Broke even. Got too cute and tried to play a flopped boat too slow against a maniac. Ended up getting 2 outtered on the river by the 3rd player still in the pot. So that was my stupid tax for 1/2 a stack.

Amazingly though, playing on a table vs 2 maniacs, 1 who had flopped a flush and gotten me when I had AK for TPTK on the short stack, I then had the 2nd one shove for $34 after i c-bet $4 into an $8 pot with AK on a K32 mono flop. He had 88. Knew he'd do that if I c-bet weakly. I say amazingly because on full tilt he either would have had a set or hit one by the river.

It can't be thsi easy, can it?

I watched a couple of PLO videos on PokerSavvy then started playing the 6-max $25 games on Stars. I've been running over the game from the start. 700 hands and I'm up 4 stacks. Just sit back and wait for them to do something really stupid. Thank you gobboboy and to a slightly lesser extent Matusow for the vids.

Another extremely suck-succesful night of tourneys.

Or how about FUCK AK REALLY HARD! And Full Tilt too of course.

1 - $20K on Stars ($11)
Punish weak limpers. Selective aggression. Yup. Works wonders.

No Limit Holdem Tournament
$10+$1

Stacks:
UTG (4540)
UTG+1 (1680)
MP1 (5885)
MP2 (2725)
MP3 (4165)
Hero (3530)
BTN (1390)
SB (9715)
BB (1900)

Blinds: 75/150

Pre-flop: (225, 9 players) Hero is CO [Jh][Kh]
2 folds, MP1 calls 150 (5735), 2 folds, Hero raises to 550 (2980), 3 folds, MP1 calls 400 (5335)

ImageImage 66.00% (EV = $324.50)

Flop: [Jd][Tc][Ks] (1325, 2 players)
MP1 checks (5335), Hero bets 1000 (1980), MP1 calls 1000 (4335)
ImageImage 23.20% (EV = -$228.60)
ImageImage 76.80% (EV = $1553.60)

Turn: [Td] (3325, 2 players)
MP1 checks (4335), Hero goes all-in 1980 (0), MP1 calls 1980 (2355)

Final Pot: 7285
MP1 shows: [9d][Th]
Hero shows: [Jh][Kh]

MP1 wins 7285 ( won +3755 )
Hero lost -3530

2 - $30K Rebuy on Stars ($3.30)
I don't play rebuys, but tonight I did. Ended up going for $24 in total. Went very well. I was a big stack ($17K) after the first hour. Problem was, when the rebuy periods stopped, they were still all playing like they were in it. 5 or 6 limpers into a pot or open 7xBB raises. It was insane. Limp, raise, re-raise, shove before it even got to me was normal too. I couldn't play a hand. So much for big stack poker.

Finally lose a coinflip with 99 vs AK. 3 hours and a bubble.

Why do I never just fold into the bubble? (Sarcasm)

3 - Daily Double A Full Tilt ($12)
This is what Full Tilt does to me every tournament. Let me build a big stack and then crush me.

Blinds are 50/100 and I have 9K. I'm in the top 30 with 700 left.
Guy with 11K is moved a few seats to my right. Good position.

Immediately he raises to 304 in hijack. I re-raise [Ah][Kd] to 1254. He flat calls.
Flop [Qd][Js][Qh]. He flat calls 1700.
Turn [8d] I check fold to 2500

Exactly 2 orbits later...80/160

Same guy open raises MP to 400 (20K now). CO calls (3K)
I re-raise BTN [Ah][Kh] 1760 (9K). Again he flat calls.
Flop [Jh][9c][Ad]. SHIT I hit the Ace. It's Full Tilt. I'm a dead man. (Other reason I knew is because I got AK at exactly the same time on Daily Double B. Another cute little common Full Tilt RNG trick.) Check/check.
Turn [Jd] Damn, I wanted to keep it small as I could. I bet 2240, he calls.
River [Kc] He leads 2,880. Shit I can't fold now. I shove 4,031. He has the boat [9d][9s].
And you wonder why I don't bet the Ace on a scary board on the flop? Anywhere else....anywhere else.

4 - Daily Double B Full Tilt ($12)
So how did I do with the same hand (AK) at the same time 10:32 EST on Daily Double B?
UTG+1 limp, MP2 raises to 720, I shove AK 2890.
Insta-call from MP2 for 2170 more because he has a pair I couldn't possibly beat. 55. Nope, not a short stack.
55 is a monster.
34Q63....goodbye.

5 - $28K Full Tilt ($26)
UTG is very loose and very bad. He's been min-raising and limping in EP very frequently. With some dead money in the pot I know AQ is great against his range. WRONG again. Of course that's why you don't raise an idiot with AK. Because there's a bigger idiot with AQ waiting in the small blind. Very poorly played AK by MP2, which is of course the only path to victory on Full Tilt.....

Additional beat: So I threw that stupid Full Tilt stress ball off the wall. It's light rubber, thought it would just pretty much die where it lands....NOPE! Bounces off the wall, hits light, breaks it. Thankfully cheap lamp, but still.............FULL TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLTTTTTT!!!!!!

Here's a shocking summary. Kicked ass on Stars. Ass kicked on Full Rigged......AGAIN!

PLO 6-max on Stars.
Picked up another stack.

Nice when you can get it in 90% on the flop. There is no way he's convincing me has a 2 and I have a J so it's tougher for him to have a set.

And then there's Full Tilt where I dropped a stack.

First I flop monster in a raised and re-raised pot and get another clown in drawing just about dead.....

Bizzaro Thursday as Full Tilt turns into Stars and Stars turns in to Full Tilt. I won a little under a stack in very passive PLO games on FT then dropped a little over a stack in some crazy loose aggressive Stars NLHE games. Unfortunately the loss was 3x the size of the win, but I still left feeling pretty good because the loss should have been a LOT worse.

How I saved money......

[Ac][Ad] to $1.75 from Hijack. Both blinds call.

[7d][Qc][4h] Pot $5.25
Very tight SB leads into me for $3, BB calls. I think about raising, but this is a very raggish flop. I just call.

[Kd] Pot $14.25
SB bets $7, BB folds, I call again. He shows no fear of the K so now it really looks like a set. I thought about min-raising and folding to a shove and maybe that's what I should have done.

[Tc] $28.25
SB bets $17. I fold. He didn't have the balls for it to be anything but a set and that's how the TAGs play their sets.

----------------------

6-handed at a FR table.
LAG MP raises to $2, LAG CO calls. I re-raise [Qd][Qc] BTN to $9. TAG SB cold-calls. MP folds, CO calls.

[8d][2d][9h] P = $29.50
Check, check. Now I HAVE to bet something here. I go for $10. That's as cheaply as I can get off to a c/r that I know is coming. SB takes a long time, but then just calls. CO folds.

Check down [Jh] then [7h]. SB shows [Kc][Ks].

Thought about trying to bet him off it on that scary river card, but decided against it. He said he thought I had AA. If I had known he had KK instead of AA I probably WOULD have bet that river.

-----------------------

Open limp [5c][5d] UTG+1, CO limps, BB checks.

[5s][3h][Jd] P = $1.75
BB bets $1.
BB had been loose preflop and extremely aggressive postflop. I'd seen him do nothing except bet - bet - bet. I'd started checking top pair hands to him and letting him bet them for me.

Last time I had J4 in BB on J62 flop and checked to him. He bet. Turn 6. Check-check. River 5 and he bet and showed T6. So the only time I had seen him check was with a monster on that turn.

I just called the $1 here and CO did too. This seemed like a pretty safe board.

[2d] P = $4.75
BB bets $3. I raise to $9. CO folds, BB calls.

[Ac] P = $22.75
BB checks. Nice try but what the hell else are you calling a raise with there on the turn? I check behind and thwart the c/r attempt with the nuts.

Also lost another sizeable pot with QQ when I got shoved on for 200BB when the flush card hit. And lost TP2K to a gutter where at least he got nowhere near the odds he needed, not that it made me feel any better.

--------------------

Had 1 really interesting decision in the PLO game where I didn't know what to do again. This time on the flop and also since I wasn't deep stacked and I was getting 2-1 with the nut flush draw and some possible backdoor outs I decided to call.

Turned out to be the correct decision. What tipped it is that I didn't think anyone had a set of Kings so I thought my other T was an out too.

I ended up giving 1/2 of that back on a hand where I had an OESFD + TP, but was against a set with the nut flush draw. But then I also got 2 short stackers in drawing just about dead on the flop too.

I'm not really sure whether this PLO run is sustainable or not, but maybe I've finally found a game that I don't run like ass in. Or maybe they just really, REALLY suck. I'm constantly finding myself getting all in as 95% or better on the flop.

Picked up 2+ stacks ($61) in 146 hands tonight. I got it in as:

98.4% fav on the flop (set of Aces vs top 2 pair) and held.

62.4% fav w/ TP+OESD+FD vs top and bot pair and won with better 2 pair on Tn.

90.7% fav w/ AKKTss vs AA94ss on K74 rainbow. I raised preflop and he just flat called OTB, raised my c-bet, and called the shove. Cooler for him, but it's bout time.

52% fav w/ K976 vs 8543 on a K76 flop. He actually hit a running flush draw to take it.

I had 1 guy go nuts and c/r me on the river for 1/2 stack with an overpair on a 72T69 board so that was nice when I had 8765. Anyone else I might have thought J8 and folded, but he was tilting.

43% dog on the turn with a pair, a double flush draw + GSSD. The other guy had a higher pair, a better GSSD + 1 better flush draw. I hit my 17 outter on the river.

So I'm not sure if I'm getting really lucky or not, but I seem to be consistantly getting it in in good spots even though I'm not entirely sure they are really good spots when I get it in. Sometimes I don't even know if I'm the favorite or not but I know that I either have a very good made hand, a great draw, or both.

Also +$39 in $50 NLHE tonight too. Makes up for yesterday. Started off rough but it was basically 2 OESD's that hit on the river that made for 2 nice pots.

45 MTT's this month, mostly FTOPS sats at the beginning of the month. Pretty much had my worst tournament month ever.......for the 3rd consecutive month that I've played more than 5 MTT's (only played 3 freerolls in Jan).

11 cashes, which wouldn't seem bad, but the 4 biggest were for $50, 3 of them into satellites which I then lost. -$350 on the month. Considering my average buyin is between $11 - $26 that's pretty shitty.

Good, or great news, is that I'm still pounding the $25 PLO 6-max games. Still a small sample of only 2279 hands, but +20.42 PTBB/100. I have no doubt that's not sustainable. We'll see where I am after about 10K hands.

Anyway, here's how awesome I ran in the $100K today and basically how I've been running in MTT's since October. See if you can guess what he had before you see the results.....

Best part is after the hand everyone congratulating him on a nh. Yes, definitely. Limp in UTG with 5 bb and then call off the rest as a 4 to 1 dog. Way to flop quads. Nh, way to outplay the idiot that shoved.

For a moment.......just for a moment.......I was up for the month today. I had finally pulled even from the MTT disaster that February has been and was even $20 in profit. And then...............

Ran KK into AA in a $50 NLHE game for a full stack. I just knew I shoulda folded preflop, but no matter how many times I tell myself that, I've only ever been able to do it once.

There was an MP crazy short stack who raised, I'm licking my chops. Then the guy who hasn't played a damn hand yet min-re-raises him from $2 to $4. I'm sitting in the SB and I've been pretty damn card dead myself at this table running at 6/2 believe it or not. I re-raise to $16. This rock has to know that I haven't played anything either and he still shoves.

So, I told myself to fold, fold, FOLD....and then clicked the call button.

Then I went to Full Tilt late for that stupid double points promotion. PLO finally caught up to me. Dropped a stack. In full Full Tilt fashion of course too.

The 2 most disgusting hands:

Mr. 97/60 maniac raises 1/2 pot in MP as he always does (which is no doubt why he's sitting on 5 stacks), I call in CO [Qd][Qh][Jh][Ts]. SB calls.

[5h][2h][9h] P $2.80
He bets 1/2 pot like he does and I call, SB folds

[4h] P $5.60
He bets $3.25. Now I'm worried because this seems like a Full Tilt special so I just call.

[Ac] P $12.10
Mr 97/60 bets $7.50, I curse and call and lose to the K-hi Flush KTT6

-----------

Same table. Mr 97/60 this time min-raises from CO. I call [Qc][Jc][Td][7c] OTB.
SB re-raises to $2.25. CO actually folds. I call because it's obvious what he has.

[Ts][9s][9h] P $5.25
SB bets $5.25
Now here's my tilt move of the day. NEVER try to get anyone to throw away Aces in a $25 PLO game even on the most dangerous boards.
I stupidly shove pot ($21) and SB re-pops all-in to $23+.

He has the nut flush draw too. Just my luck. I hit a meaningless J on the turn and miss my 9 outter on the river. He actually hit his Ace.

If he didn't have the flush draw though I think I would have taken it. Maybe. Bone head play. I guess I deserved it.

Correction: I have still not yet found the game that I can run well in. I thought it might be PLO, but that was just an aberration until the Gods found out that I was playing this game. Started off well, but variance has hit me like a brick the past 2 days......

Image

They continue to play horribly, just telegraphing their hands every time. But they were telegraphing the rivered nuts all too often. I had one guy call down on certain draws 3x, hit them all 3x and check the nuts to me on the river twice, thinking I would bet the scare card.

Then I had another guy that just called down and pot bet when he hit. The exact opposite, but either way, you're not getting paid.

I did finally get myself all-in in a really bad situation with top 2 pair vs top set. I also got all-in twice where we both had the nuts, but I had strong redraws both times against their none and of course I lost money to the rake with the nuts both times.

The really unfortunate thing is that it has hit me at the worst time possible as I was hit with some unexpected car repair expenses yesterday and may need to withdraw a little from the bankroll.

Again though, slightly up for the month yesterday, right back in the hole again last night and today.
