What do you think of my play? When he first called my flop bet, I wasn't sure if he had a K or not. When the turn came up with another K, I figured my 7s were probably good. Instead of my usual value betting here, I tried to represent the K with a check small raise.

He knows I continuation bet often. So I tried to make it seem like I once again did a continuation bet, but was going to give it up on the turn now that I missed. I check the turn, making him think I'm ready for the usual check/fold after my continuation bet doesn't work. He bets a small amount (500 into a pot of 3300, giving me about 6:1 odds), which could mean he wanted to lure me in, but I took the chance. I thought he would have re-raised me pre-flop or on the flop if he had a K.

That's a gutsy move, but I like it! That check raise will win alot more pots than just betting the turn, and it gets some dead money in the pot. Your real problem is if he decides to go all in -- he still probably doesn't have a hand, but you can't fold him so you probably shouldn't risk calling with your 77 in a SNG. That's worth considering, but fortunately it didn't happen this time.

Another bit of bad news with that move is that if you're wrong and he has the king, you've put 3000 chips in the pot!! It's very dangerous to risk your big stack on one hand, I've already mentioned that I usually prefer to be the aggressor in many smaller hands instead of one big one. But at least you're the aggressor this time instead of being the caller. That's a good thing.

You're right... I'd have a very tough call if he pushed all-in there. And I was thinking the same as you... CR the turn had a likelier win % to me. I thought if I bet the turn again, he might test the waters and re-raise me. Once again, I'd have a very tough call.

On another note, what range of hands do you think he had here? I'm going to rule out pocket pairs 88-AA as well as AT-AK. He would have re-raised there. Obviously he didn't have a King here. So... perhaps something like 98-QJ? Or A3 or A5? Maybe pocket 2s, 4s, or 6s?
