That blows my mind at how you can play with such a high VP$IP and be profitable. How do you earn your money? Seriously. I'm really interested in hearing about styles that differ from my own tight 19/15 game.

I play a ton of hands(40%) from the button which makes up most of my vpip(CO is at 30%).

I just play a very heaviy position game and I think that most players at these levels can be exploited and controlled with good betting.

I do have big inter session swings, but i have been consistantly over 10ptbb for 250,000+hands in 25nl-100nl, and haven't had a negative swing > 8 buy ins in my career..

In an unrelated note:
Just finished my best only cash game day ever +$550 over 2200 hands(18ptbb/100)
pretty sweet
I got my hair highlighted, because I felt some strands were more important that others.

These 2 hands are the same villian who was running about 22/19, you would think he would not always hold AA or KK in these situations

After this morning, this was my last 12 hours of sessions

Image

It's been 5 outer after 5 outer as well as
1)gutshots calling flop PSB's,
2) picking up turn outs
3) call turn 2/3 psb
4) hit backdoor flush or trips and bet pot when checked to and get the money in on river

all in raised pots, so I'm having to call about a PSB on the river(which still didn't give them correct odds to call turn, so at least i'm playing that ok)

And I think the worst part is I'm not getting paid off on my monsters, then it is check fold

So after a total $550 downturn(i'd say about $200 in tilt mistakes), I just couldn't take any more holdem.

I played 5 or so SNG's and broke even and continued with my crappy luck(3 handed set over set on a 6max bubble, and 3 handed flush over flush to knock me out in 3rd(would of had a huge chip lead)). Then I remembered that the only reason I am playing on the abomination that is pokerhost software is raked hands for the stage bonus.

So I fired up a couple tables of 50nl PLO(6-max). I guess this is mostly a european site because these guys are crazy. I ended up making about $300 back(at one point I was up $450) before I had to get ready for work. This is good, because I was really considering cashing out. The money isn't that important for me to slowly go nuts as I lose one stack at a time.

So I have 2440 raked hands out of the 3000 I need for the first stage(need to finish by sunday). I think I might stay on PLO for a while because most hands end up being raked and there are some horrible people on there. I might work some holdem back in next week.

Current BR in Pokerhost: $1037(I made $360 on Wednesday afternoon before the downturn began after work wednesday night, so over the past 2 days I am up $60 or so)

$250 in ewalletXpress

Current Profit for february: $2127 (probably about 45-50 hours)

I've never thought about it before, but I have never made over $1800 in a month without a big tournament score, so this has been my best month ever(with a couple of my worst days ever).

And I have a job now so I must be RICH! Wait, where did it go?.

crap.

OK, i'm out

Postby rickjr82 » Fri Feb 29, 2008 2:52 pm

Alright, I think i quit again,

Played 6max omaha .5/1
lost most of a buyin when I had 2nd set to top set in a 3way pot 2 times within 5 hands
(lost the rest with AAxx against KKxx 50% in pf flop Kxx)
ended up -$30

played heads .25/.50 2 tables
-$650
dropped 13 buy ins

I adjusted, I became more aggressive, I became passive, I changed bet sizes, I started CRing nothing fucking worked I never had a hand against a strong second best

at one table, I lost $358 to one guy, $136 and $127 to the other 2

everytime we were all in I lost
every big pot, I lost
I thought I had an advantage
I made good laydowns
I would CR and he would hit, I would plan to CR a set or 2pr, he would check through and the next card would put 4 to a straight or the board went runner runner to put a 4 flush out there.

He open folded to my AA 3 times
I was outkicked with trips 4 times(and never outkicked him), last one was AJ vs AQ and I check called him with trips for 140bb's(I did split twice with full houses)

lost with KK in a reraised pot to j6d (125bb's)
lost with 2nd pair to his medium pocket pair probably about 5 times
AIPF 1010>>>JJ for 150 bb's
75% of my non top pair valuebets turned out to be wrong
i caught him bluffing maybe 4 times
I flopped a straight in a reraised pot and he check folded(he had 3bet oop)
I asked him what he thought near the end and he said that he had never ran this good

Played a horrible player and he hit and ran when his flushdraw beat my 2pr (all in on flop)

stacked his replacement for $35
won a big pot against the next guy
he doubles up through me 5 times and takes another $100 or so

my headsup stats today:

and look at this beauty from 10k-11k

There are almost no up on that graph, it is straight down

If i pushed in every hand blind, by graph would look better than that.
