We've often discussed the higher skill level of UB players, and I've noticed it even at the $5.50 level. Here are breakouts of my numbers for UB vs. Pacific Poker vs. Full Tilt.

180 games on Ultimate Bet
total won.........$1,085
total wagered..$990
Plus/Minus.....$95
ITM%.............39%
ROI%.............10%

176 games on Pacific Poker
total won........$1,375
total wagered.$968
Plus/Minus $407
ITM% 52%
ROI% 42%

61 games on Full Tilt
total won........$477
total wagered.$336
Plus/Minus......$142
ITM%..............59%
ROI%.............42%

I think you guys know where I'm going with this. While the sample is not huge, I decided to run my numbers to see if what I "felt" about UB was accurate. I believe that the caliber of players at UB are better than at the other sites I mentioned. As a result, I have shut it down at UB and am moving to Full Tilt - Full Time, to see if I'm sitting on a luck box, or if these numbers can be maintained (ITM not likely of course).

Also moving to the $11s on FT.

Thoughts, go? PS, Flafishy, I hollered at you on UB the other night, but I think you had your chat feature off. :P

sounds like a plan, but I think you should also consider Party Poker, it's worked for me. Plus you can get rakeback from any number of people.

Thanks Nash,

For whatever reason, I just haven't become too fond of Party Poker as a site. I've almost signed up several times, played with some fake money and stuff. The big benefit to FT is you start with $1500 in chips as opposed to the $800 in Party. I'm sure I'll throw some cash on there eventually and give it a shot too.

Do you find the same true at UB or have you not played there?

Hey, kdiddy.

I probably did have it turned off. I'm assuming you're talking about UB? I do turn it off occasionally when I get on a particularly chatty table if I feel distracted by it, and then forget to turn it back on again sometimes. Probably what happened.

As far as UB SnGs go compared to elsewhere, I've experienced a strange thing that I still can't figure out. I do very well at the $20+$2 SnGs there, but I get my butt kicked there at $30+$3. Not sure why that happens. Conversely, I do fine at $30+$3 at Poker Stars, sporadic at $20+$2.

I remember another weird trend when I was on Full Tilt. I would do very well there at $10+$1, not well at all at $5+.50. I just redeposited last night at Full Tilt after about six months away, by the way. I'm going to give the $20+$2 and hopefully the $50+$5 a go there, see what happens.

Re Party Poker: I know a lot of people swear it's an ATM, but I can't win at anything at PP and skins. Not sure why. I haven't spent a lot of time trying to figure it out, and it could just be a short-term anomaly. But every time I've played there, I've gotten kicked around.

I'm sure those strange results I mentioned are purely a function of small sample sizes. But overall, I have done pretty well at UB and Full Tilt SnGs, but my results at Stars are sporadic.

I think I run into issues when I play 3 UB SNGs and 2 FT SNGs at the same time. By just going to FT for a while, I can concentrate more on the players and getting reads.

By playing 5 SNGs at the same time, I generally don't have much of a read on the players and merely play the cards. I think my numbers will improve by playing fewer tables.

Not having a read on players doesn't mean that you just have to play the cards -- remember that you can play situations very effectively too -- i.e. if you're the big stack and there's four left, you can run over the 2nd biggest stack most of the time...

of course. I didn't go into detail in my description. I should have said play position as well.

thanks
