Well I played today for the first time since, getting my wisdom teeth out. I probably should have held off another day but as I said yesterday I was going stir crazy so I had to do something. I only played for 3 hrs which is a really short session for me. I have slept so much over the last couple of days that didnt have any stamina, and after 3 hrs my concetration was gone. I guess it didnt help that I at real food for the first time last night and I had to take a vicodin before bed to get my jaw to stop throbbing.

As for my play to day, it was a hell of a roller coaster day. First hand I played was 1010, ep makes it $15, he has just rebought for $100 after pushing all in on a flush draw and loosing. 2 players call in the middle, I raise to $100 thinking that most likely my 1010 is a coin flip and possibly ahead. He calls and turns over JJ, I dont improve and rebuy for another $100. Next hand I play I get on the button. EP raises to $10, 4 callers in the middle and I call. Flop is , utg fires out $50, I call hoping to get action behind. Evyerone else folds. Turn is a , he bets outs $60, I push all in. He calls and turns over AA, board doesnt pair on the river, I win. Couple hands later, I look down at AA UTG, very active table so, I limp. Same guy with JJ from before makes it $20, one caller. I reraise to $100. Both fold I win anout $50. Next hand I play I look down at 44, flop is 47J two diamonds. I bet out $30 from MP, sb pushes all in for $130. I call almost instantly, he turns over 56 with no diamond, his open ender doesnt get there. I am now up to $600 in front of me and up $300 in the first hour. Then the fun hand. I posted it in the NL section. But to make a long strory short, I made the nut str8 on the river with my opponants backdoor nut flush card, cost me about $400 total. I made a nice little run after that and ended up $42 for the session. Kind of feel like I wasted a nice run of cards, I havent had rushes like that other than vegas in a while and to only be up $42 almost feels like a loss. At least I got out of the house ,I guess.

As nice as it was to be in Vegas and see my mom, my girlfirend, and some friends back home, it is nice to be home. I guess even after a year SD has become home, there really is something special about sleeping in my own bed.

Today I went back to my favorite SD casino, the lucky lady. Good day, I flopped a set in the first hand I played and busted two players. I had 99 and the flop came AK9 and I busted AJ and K7. Got AA once and KK twice, won each hand. Flopped another set and didnt get paid off. I only played for 3.5 hrs, for some reason all the fish were there early and as they busted out and were replaced by good player. By 5pm there were nothing but rocks there so I left. +$395 in 3.5 hrs good day.

I'm glad you didn't have to go through my crap with the wisdom teeth. Gives me hope or when I have to go back. The surgeon said it would be just as bad though. ugh...

Yesterday was a strange day. It started at the lucky lady since I like the day games there better than anywhere else around. When I got there they were 8 handed with a bunch of the regulars. I made 6 rocks and 3 fish. Had a really frusterating hand with JJ which I posted in the anything goes section. I called a UTG raise from a rock knowing I would have to improve to win. Moron short stack pushs all in for $40 with 109 suited. UTG now gets to push all in and I fold, only to flop a J and river the quad. I had about $400 in front of me and probably would have doubled up. Wanted to kill this stupid fuk kid. This moron and two others got busted quicky and the game was down to a 6 handed rock garden very quickly, so I decided to move on. Ended down $180

Next stop was the Villiage club, the board was really long for NL so I sat in the 3/6 O8 game while I waited. I ended up winning about $60 in O8 before getting called to the NL table. Nl table was good as it often is. One really nice hand after another. Hand 1 UTG who like to min raise with monsters makes it $6 to go, I look down at 44 I call so does a couple more players. Flop is J43, UTG bets out $20, before I can do anything the player behind me says raise. I dont know exactly what to do here so, I just call. He still goes ahead and raises o $60, the lady goes all in for about $30 more, I reraise all in and am up against QQ and AJ, turn is a % which I didnt like, river is a 3 fours full takes me a nice pot. Later on I look down at AA raise to $23, utg limp raises all in with KK for another $60. I call dont get cracked and win another good pot. Left Villiage club up $344

Final stop of the night was at the SDSU home game, which for some reason I cant beat on a consistant basis. As so often seems to be the case at these home games my cards were totally dead all night. It doesnt help that the buy in is $20 -$60, so the money is really not enough to keep my attention. Ended the home game down $60.

Today I woke up and didnt feel like playing. I messed around at home a little bit, made some homemade salsa from a recpie that I had wanted to try. I really didnt know what I wanted to do so I decided that I would jsut go play poker. I really should have known by the fact that I really didnt want to play that I should have just stayed home. I played at the lucky lady again. Really a pretty decent game, had a couple of really bad players and some of the regulars who are good players.

Had a really card dead day. I went the first 4.5 hours of play without seeing a pocket pair bigger than 8 or flopping a set. Then of course when I do finally get my KK everyone folds to my raise since I havent played a hand in about a week. Flopped a str8 from the BB with J7 only to get flushed out by a short stack on the turn. Really didnt have any memorable hands, I did lose some money with AQ vs AK with an A on the flop. Other than that I pretty much bled of chips missing a lot of flops. It was kind of frusterating the guy next to me was possibly the most annoyng poker player I have played with in a while. I really dont care what hand he had every freakin time, and how he likes this hand because he won a big pot with it. Or why he folded his K6 preflop after the flop came kk3 and he would have lost to a rivered flush. Something inside him told him not to play. Well no shit, something inside of you told you not to play k6 off from UTG, wow thats a deep thought. It doesnt help the fact that this moron hit every hand he played, 84 is always a great hand to play when it flops trips and turns a boat.

I really should have just taken the day off, when my brain kept finding excuses to not leave to go play it should have been a sign that my head wasnt into. Down 265 in 5.5 hrs of play today.

Definatly going to take thursday off of playing. I am leaving for Vegas at 6am on Friday morining.

I leave for Vegas at 6am PST and I was trying to get to bed early but I couldnt sleep so here I am. I am hoping that this Vegas trip will be a lucerative as the last one. I bought a laptop the other day. I had said I was going to hold off with the laptop purchase until I had hit my $4000 goal, as of now I have made $3600 since school ended a good Vegas trip should easily put me over that amount, of course a bad run of cards and I am going to be wondering why i didnt wait until I had made my goal. Oh well I needed the laptop for school either way. It is a really nice laptop. Dell 9300 17inch screen, 1gb of DDR1 ram, 1.6 pentium M processor, 80 gb hard drive, 128 mb Ram video card, and a wireless card which is great since UCSD has great wireless acess everywherer on campus. Anyways hopefully I'll be back on Sunday with a good report.

Well uggggg is the best word I can use to describe my Vegas trip. Suckout central, some really good games too. I guess part of playing with players that cant fold is dealing with suckouts. Plus I couldnt hit a draw to save my life, I flopped a pair and a flush draw 3 times and didnt improve in any of them .

Day 1 I just bought in for $500 at the 2/5 at the MGM. I get JJ on the button, I raise to $50, get a caller from the calling station which is good but a little bit scary. Flop is AJ3 with 2 hearts, he checks, I bet $100 he calls. I am really hoping he is playing AK or AQ. Turn is an offsuit 10, he checks I bet $100, he min raises to $200. I think for a second and push all in he, insta calls and turns over KQo. Uggg called $100 with a gut shot with a flush draw on the board. Board doesnt pair bye bye buy in #1.
Hand 2 I limp from MP with 99. Flop is K92 with 2 clubs, I take a chance and check since there are 3 players behind me and the CO is very agressive.. Player behind me bets $40, gets one caller a weak player who was UTG. I raise to $150, bettor folds, UTG calls. Turn is the , uggg. He checks, I check, river is a brick. He bets out $100, there is $400 in the pot so I have to call. He turns over for the flush.
Hand 3 I raies from the button with JJ to $30 calling station calls from the BB, flop is K [10s], checks to me, I bet $70, callind station pushs all in for $400 or so. I fold he shows . Great call out of position with a suited weak king.
Last hand of the night vs the same calling stationas in hand 3. This time he raises from LP to $25, I call with 99. Flop is 557. I check he bets $75, I raise to $175. He thinks about it than pushes all in. This decision takes me a while to think about. I finally fold, for another $300 there are far to many hand that beat me, than I bet. He finally says I'll show it if you fold. I finally fold and he shows me 88. Grrrrrr -$836 in 7.5 hrs

Day 2. I was hoping to get some of it back after a horrible day 1. I found a really loose table chips were flying everywhere, in a $500 max buy in table one guy had over $5000 in front of him.
First hand of the day is AA from the button. I raise $40 get called but the SB. Flop is K . I lead out $60, get called. Turn is the worse possible card in the deck [10d], he checks and I have a bad feeling I'm behind, and I dont have the . River is the great. SB pushs all in for $250. I show AA he shows Q. Next hand I play is AA again. This time get called but the crazy scottish guy who has dropped about $1000 since I sat down. I raise to $40 and get a call. I'm in position here. flop is [10c] 3, he checks I bet out $50 he calls. Turn is an offsuit 3, very good card for me. I bet $100 he calls. River is , he checks, I check. He grimaces and turns over .
Final hand of the day, I get KK in the SB. Limped to me I raise to $60, I really want it heads up. I should have pushed all in, get called but 4 players,flop comes with an A, check short stack is all in, gets 2 callers. I fold and curse a ltitle. -212 in 5hrs. I guess minus $200 isnt to bad considering these beats.

Overall on this trip I feel like I played well, only had my money in with the worst hand once and that was QQ called an all in from a short stack who had KK. Other than that I dont know what I could do about any of these beats. Sometimes calling stations can be very hard to play when they keep making hands and drawinf the killer cards.

It might not be optimal... but the way I deal with calling station showdown poker is bet the pot on the flop, and slow it down slightly on the turn to half pot to 2/3 depending on the strength of my hand and their likely holdings as best as I can read someone that will play K4o for a big raise preflop have no pair no draw on the flop and run down two pair by the river. More than one of these muppets in the hand might collectively school you to having to dodge half the deck or more.

You aren't really betting to "protect" your hand against these yahoos, especially one pair hands, the only function of betting is to put more money in the pot because they can't fold until all 5 are showing, it becomes much more like playing low limit.

I try to take it down a knotch against these yahoos and make the bet that is at the bottom of correct for them to call when I'm running poorly and should I come up with a monster then I pound harder. All the set hands would have been in the pound harder category, so that is unfortunate.
