Bottom two-pair in NL

Postby Martine23 » Fri Nov 12, 2004 6:51 pm

Just logged on to Stars to get a quick hour in before I head out for the night and this hand occured. Blinds 2-4 my stack is exactly 400 I believe.

I pick up 34 in the BB and two MP players limp and the SB calls. Flop comes K34 rainbow. SB checks and I lead out for $8 hoping to get raised by one of the limpers with a KQ or KJ type of hand. Both MP players fold but the SB check-raises to $20. The SB is not a weak player but he is also not one of the regulars that were at the table. I am weary of K3 or K4 and I just decided to call. The turn was an Ace and he lead out for $12 and I decided I was just going to call this down to the river because I didn't want to get into a raising war against a better two pair. The river is a blank and he bets $12 and I just call again. He has KJ and I take down a $101 pot.

Do any of you reraise that flop? Raise turn or river?

I wouldve been about 75% sure I was ahead, but because he was also a blind , I play it just like you did.

Yup, that was the only reason I didn't play that faster. I really wanted to be up against the MP limper rather than the SB. After the check-raise I was just happy to make it out alive.

I like the way you played it. Only thing I might have done is raise the turn. It's doubtful that the Ace helped him, plus I hate it when I call there and the river makes 4 to a straight or 4 to a flush (in this case a 2 or a 5) and I'm facing a big bet.
