I think if you don't have a plan to have all your money in the middle at some point in this hand, you played it poorly.
How about a $100 turn bet, and a $90 river bet? Just string him along. I don't think a turn check is all that confusing here...The board isn't going to change much to improve his hand, and the check won't convince him he is ahead either. I've seen many more players who were drawing dead call a turn bet hoping to hit a miracle than call a river bet unimproved.
