My first impression is that I don't like it. A tournament is (supposed to be) a competition that takes place at a certain time...start to finish. Sometimes people get on a roll and have their confidence boosted by being on that roll and that affects their play...sometimes people run badly for a short time and that affects their play. Sometimes little grudges/feuds develop. I don't like everyone getting a 'fresh start' with time to prepare...they should have been prepared before the start of the tourney. I don't like that the dynamic that has been built-up for a week or more is being thrown away.
Will it help the WSOP as far as popularity and money pumped into the game? I dunno...it might but it might not. It help might short-term but end up hurting long-term. But above all I think it hurts the tourney itself and IMO when you start 'degrading' the product itself then it can be a downward spiral. Look at your local news broadcasts...they've let their 'product' degrade so much that it's practically unwatchable anymore...all in the name of 'popularizing' it.
EDIT: How 'bout we let the NBA play up until the Finals and then wait 4 months for the Final series so they can pump it up. See how retarded that sounds?
