Button is 17/14 with a 30% attempt to steal or something. It looked like a prime stealing spot hence we wanted to 3-bet, but I think the stack as well as the fact 88 plays poorly in a 3-bet pot pull it towards a call preflop.

As such we're pretty much unsure on every street.

i think a call PF is fine, and be willing to fold lots of flops if UTG + Button play, C/R lots of flops if you're HU w/ button.

if you 3bet PF i would make it smaller....$14.50 looks fine. i would strongly consider check/folding this flop vs. 2 opponents. if i did bet, it would definitely be a bet/fold without significant history.

I agree with UA here that your 3 bet is a little to big, $14 gets the same result. As is i think you have to fold here it sucks folding when you are getting 2:1 to call with an overpair but I just cant put him on a hand that you beat. The preflop is really weird, maybe he limped with the intention of limp raising and then decided to slow play since it had already been 3 bet and he wanted to play it sneaky? Still I like a fold.

the 3-bet size is perfect IMO. You should be 3betting more than pot when OOP. I think you played this well. Calling the flop shove is close because you are getting such a good price. Also, checking folding this flop once you get two callers is reasonable as well. You could also just flat call PF, OBV... and I think that that would be the *standard* thing to do. But 3betting 88 here some of the time is good.

the flop bet seems too small to me and lloks weak, but anymore is committing you to calling utg if he pushes.

seems like one more factor that point to just calling pf.

I thought the flop bet was perfect. Why do you need to bomb this flop no matter if you have AA, 88, QJ or a set?

I think the 3bet is standard and perfectly sized. Isn't this flop exactly what we wish for here? Follow up with a potbet now and call utg and perhaps find a rigtheous loss here but still well played.

Against a 17/14 i think Toasted and TripleB are probably right that t3betting 88 is not optimal play. In my last post, I didnt take into account he kind of player you were 3betting. Your better off with a polarized 3betting range against a fairly tight player. Assuming he folds PF often to 3bets.
