At the same price point, with the same screen size, the "slower" processor in Beavis' choice is the better option for a laptop.
The "Core" series of processor is more efficient in a couple of very important areas:
architecture
energy efficiency
This processor will do more work at 1.5 than the dual-core pentium can do at 1.6,
AND use less energy / produce less heat.
The gateway does come with Vista, though. This may be a breaking point for some.

Is the absense of this 1000Mbps from the gateway something I should be concerned about? I don't really know what the heck it is...wireless capability or something?
Otherwise the gateway looks OK to me...
I will probably get it.

Seeing who posted this, I just figured he meant "Need help deciding which laptop to confiscate at work from an international traveler and keep for myself", talk about a letdown when it actually turned out to be what the title said.
