Some hands i think i played bad + New way to analyze my game

Postby MecosKing » Tue Aug 09, 2005 2:23 pm

Okay, well i love posting hands whre i hit my bottom pair kicker on the river, bluff blind stealers, or make the nuts against someone with the second nuts and rake in a big pot.

However, i have started to keep hands in word pad as i play my game, so i can look back on them. Generally, i just put hands in there where something interesting happpened like i made a good or a bad calldown, a good or a bad bluff, or something like that. These hands are what i have in there for bad calls i made.

argh

I didnt have much of a read on the guy, except that he was a 19% VPer, and 12% PF raiser, with AF of 2.1. Somewhat aggressive, and on the tighter side, but not what id call a TAG, necessarily. (I am pretty sure this was a full table)

I mean when the ace comes and the PF raiser bets into me, do i just have to muckit? I knew i was ahead before that, and obviously i knew that was a bad card for me. But i think its just too easy to bet the ace that way when you dont have it, as i have caught alot of others doing that in HU situtations.

I actually thought of a new way yo play hands like this, which is to call the turn and muck to the river bet, if it comes, and if not, either bet or check depending on if you think your hand is good. I think that I played this bad because generally when someone calls the turn on a board like that, especially if he has a hand that justifies reraising preflop, that means he is going to call the river, which means that if you are bluffing, you will probably give up at that point (at least i usually do). This means that when the river bet comes, its a value bet, and your better off mucking your hand. Of course, hindsight is 20/20.

Of course, youve gotta reconcile that with this situation, where i made the correct play:

I guess the difference here was that the guy was a 63% VPer here, with a 1.0 aggression factor, and a mizor in general, so i figured it was possible that he was in the hand with something pretty crappy, like a straight draw or overcards. I dunno.

Like here, i tried to keep the guy honest and it didnt wotk out so great.

This guy was a 50% Vper with .80 flop aggressoin factor, but i still couldnt figure out for the life of me, what he had, so i called anyway. I probably shouldve mucked when the straight card came out there too, or maybe to the threebet since a .80 guy isnt going to 3 bet me with nothing, right? I mean obviosly the guys got no stones at all, because anyone that flat calls a button raise from the SB with 66 should be shot in my opinion (giving the BB 6-1 on his money to call, so you can now have a 3 way pot with a pair as shittyl as 66, instead of threebetting it and getting it HU with the button, or hell, folding if your playing tight-- ANYTHING but a flat call- NIHAN ass piper!) Anyways, all told i probly shouldve avoided this.

And lastly, heres a hand where ya never know quite what to do with it, unless your tightwad, in which case you CR the river

I have no idea what he had. I am not sure if i am better off leading into this and trying to steal it, or just callling once to catch my straight, and then being done with the hand, assuming that the reraiser probably has a better hand than AJ. Of course when i picked up the flush draw, i wass forced to call the turn, so i figured i mights well bet the turn instead of check/call, to give myself a little fold equity (from a TT maybe?). It didnt happen though, and i still dunno what he had. I dunno if i played this one bad or not.
I always tell myself not to make the weak lead, because its too obviously a bluff, but i still findmyself doing it, because i figure wtf! Other guys dont realize this stuff, right?

Last bad callldown. This was probably the worst calldown i made all night, all told. The hand pretty much speaks for itself, and i dont have much in the way of rationale for why i called, except maybe that i figured i had outs, and may be good, or something, i dunno.
