Table selection can be very important, but I find at places like Party Poker where there are thousands of players playing at any given time it's not as important as normal.

The players move in and out of games so quickly, that any given table is rarely even comparable to how it was 1/2 hour ago. In these situations I usually just sit at a table with a seat open, wait for the blinds, and then just play. If I notice it's especially tight or something I might change tables, but it's not very often.

On some other sites table selection can be essential to having a good session. Personally I like action tables, but I don't like to see someone with a huge chip lead. I usually don't want more than two people with more than twice the max buy-in, and I like to see a few short stacks because a great number of these guys are just looking to lose the last of their chips so they can quit playing.

One other thing that I always look at in addition to average pot sizes and flop% is the stacks at the table. If I see at least 2-3 deep stacks (1.5x max buyin or more) then I will be more inclined to sit down. If there are lots of shortstacks then I can't play my normal game and there isn't as much to be won.

I used to pay alot of attention to table selection, but now, unless the table averages are VERY low, I just sit and play. Of course, if theres no action in a couple rounds, I'll move but thats not usually the case.

As far as stack sizes go, if there are more than about 4 short stack, theres not enough money on the table for me. I used to avoid several large stacks, but now that I have mouch more confidence in my game, I dont avoid anyone just because they have a big stack. I do, however, pay extra attention the the play of the big stacks to see if they know what theyre doing. Alot of times they just hit a lucky hand or two. If thats the case, I will play more hands when they are in the pot.

Back when I used to play on Royal Vegas, flop percentage was the key. The bigger the better

Now on Empire on the $100 tables, they don't even give you stats for flop percentage. I don't think it matters since there are always fish there, wherever I go. *However* I always try and sit behind the big stacks. Position is so important in my game, and everytime I'm out of position betting into the big stack without the nuts,my hearts beats a little bit faster And for some reason...I usually lose in that situation .
