Is there anyway to get a Shoutbox added?

Am I the only one who doesn't know what the crap a "shoutbox" is...?

its kinda like a chat box but the size of your comments you can put in it are limited. with it you can talk in real time. Go to gamingrepublic.org and they have one there on the left side of the page

Like an IM kinda thing? That would be cool, although I doubt they'd go for it...

MVP, as far as a shoutbox goes I had no idea either.

I do agree with tetsuo that a sort of chat box would bring the post count down here at BTP and thus alot of the good information and discussions we have here at BTP would be lost in time, and that would suck because I can't be the only one whose sifts through all the old posts' looking for valuable information and excellent insights. While I too initially wanted a chat room as well I think that it might hinder what could be an excellent discussion that would be a post on BTP. But maybe this shoutbox thing is different I don't kow, I still am not totally sure what it does, I just read the definition of what it is.

Chatbox as an alternative to spam posts isn't all that bad. The trick is limiting the size of the messages and the number of messages that it will display.

If you keep message size small, people will tend to keep the "good" content posts in the forums, where they belong.

They're not all that difficult to code, I coded one into my in a couple hours.

Bandwidth due to frequent refreshes could get to be an issue, but probably not if you host it on the main page instead of the forum pages. I'd guess that most people hang out in the forum and only irregularly hit the main page.

Of course, that begs the question of how useful the chatbox would be... *shrug*
