.50/1 Nl at UB

Both players in question have about the same $$ (50)
So,

All folded to me, I look at [Jc][Qh] 2 off the button. I limp, next two players limp as well, the SB folds and the BB checks.

Flop is [Td][2c] [Jd]

I bet out pot (4.50), the 2 limpers fold and the BB reraises to 9.

I have no read on this guy at all and after thinking for a sec I think he is drawing so I reraise to $13.50 ( a min raise - poor on my part and not sure why I did it)
He thinks for a good pause and then reraises to 18...at this point I lose control and reraise all in. and he calls..

Turn is [9c] and the river is a [4c] and I take down a nice pot.

Now the reason I got so agressive is its part of my game I have been working on. I think I oplayy a little weak tight at times and I am working to become more agressive.

Now I got lucky here and won and put this guy in my notes...now I know I played this hand poorly - but it seems to me all other things being equal this is a +EV play...am I wrong?

How about some advice :)

1. What kind of deck are you playing with that has two Jack of clubs? I take it that you had the [Qc] instead?

2. I HATE the min re-raise on the flop. When BB raised you, you have to decide whether to drop the hand or to push it hard. In this case, the best move would have been to fold since you don't beat anything that someone can check-raise you with (except a bluff). If you really thought he was drawing then clearly an additional 4.50 will do nothing into a $25 pot. Since your stack isn't very deep at all, you can't do much here in the way of putting in a serious re-raise without being totally pot commited. You could theoretically call but that gives him the lead in the hand, and you would have to fold to any significant bet on the turn unless a J or a Q fell. Of course, when he min raised you again I think pushing is equivalent to handing him your stack. While he played his hand terribly regardless of what he had, it is pretty obvious that he's got 2pr or better. Now I don't know what the hell he was doing min raising multiple times but you should really take that as a sign that you are beat.

Thanks for the comments...

Oh I agree - I know I butchered the hand like no tomorrow - The min raise was crap, etc...- I cought a case of don' t want to let go of the hand itis but got lucky and won.

Now though I have a good read on this guy the next time we butt heads and I am wondering if my read is correct and I put him on the flush draw against my TP decent Kicker- is it EV+ in the long run ? It seems to me that if he hits one out of 3 times - I stll end up ahead.

In that case, Id say he played it very well. You may need to watch him for a while before you decide if hes good or not, but this one he played well.

He check raised you with the nut flush draw. There a good chance youre going to fold there (which you should have by the way). If you dont fold he has 9 outs to the flush and 3 more aces for a total of 12 outs. Hes close to even money. Add his folding equity since you'll fold to his check raise alot of times and his play is a good one.

Hmmm

Ice-

I agree - and I usually would fold in this situation - I had a weak hand and overplayed it (I think term is Soft Tilt)

I think I understood what you meant by folding equity but could you explain further... Is this the odds that I will fold more then call?

Thanks for the great insight.

Folding equity means that there is a certain percentage of the time that when he raises, you will fold and he wins the pot uncontested. You add that to the times you call and that he still wins the pot with one of his outs.
If he went all in knowing for a fact that you would call, then his play would be bad because he doesnt have enough outs to win enough percentage of the time to make the play profitable.
