Passive table (unusual actually at the 15/30s). The guy is very passive, earlier he limped on the button with JJ and mized a big pot off my TPTK A9 which i had in the BB, when the game was short handed. Who the fuck limps with jacks anyways? So heres the hand.

The question is, should i have bet the river for value? The flush card got there, as well as a one card straight. He thought and thought on the river then checked it to me- that generally means they dont have the goods, especially in a situation where the river was such an obvious scare card. I dont think anyone with a flush or a straight would go for a CR here because the river is too obviously a scare card, The type of hand that CRs the river is a non-obvious one like a kicker hit, bookenders, a gutshot maybe, etc. But that JJ limp just left me thinking that the guy was enough of a godawful testicle that he might try such a move anyways, so i just checked, and sure enough i missed a bet.

Anyone bet this?

Maybe I've been drinking too much tonight... but that doesn't seem like a 4-to-straight to me. 3-4-7-8? You need 25 or 56. Right? You cannot always give credit to someone hitting the obvious draw - ESPECIALLY when he checks on the river.

LoL. Man maybe im the one thats been drinking tonight! Oh wait i havent, but maybe thats the problem - i ve been clean n sober for a week, and my thinking is getting cloudy. Your right, theres not 4 to a straight on there. God. Even still though, the flush and the possibility of an ace rag kicker hit is always there-- but you are probably right i shouldve bet the river there.

fwiw, i occassionally use the delayed check on the river if my opponent is aggressive. it works more often than not. they smell blood, raise, and then sh!t in their pants when they get reraised.

of course, i play plo8, and it certainly ain't at the lofty 15/30 level or anything close to it, but still...
