Tournament Poker sucks.

I busted out just before the second break in todays WCOOP event. I was just never able to get anything going. I flopped a pair of aces with a big kicker, someone flopped a set. I tried to steal the blinds with a marginal hand, I got 3 bet. I picked up QQ, everyone folded to my raise. You know, that kinda thing. No real bad beats to speak of, but nothing really working for me either. Yuck.

Yesterday I went to hang out with some friends and bought an ipod mini so aside from my pathetic performance in the WCOOP I didn't get to play at all yesterday. I came back home today at like 5 and hung around for a while and at 11 I said "Hey why don't I actually play?" So I quickly hopped on 4 $10/$20 (6 max) tables on partypoker and came out $705 ahead. I took some real ugly beats at the beginning. Probably my favorite was 35 in the big blind, SB has J4. The flop is 467, he bets and I call. Turn is a 4 he check raises, I 3 bet, he caps. River is a 4 and he checks. I giggle and check behind. Things worked out in the end obviously cause you don't make $700 in an hour and fifteen minutes at 4 $10/$20 tables without things going your way . I'm pretty scared of whats on the other side of this variance hill I'm on.

Just finished up 2 hours of comically bad beats and managed to only lose $192.56, so I'm actually pretty pleased. I gotta really force myself to think positive about positive play and negative about negative play, and not about the results. It was at my usual tables, by the way.

So I was reading UPF and I came across this post by Ace-Freeley,

My mortgage is late and I just got sucked out on the river and 7th street so many times I forgot what its like to win a pot. I haven't enjoyed the game of poker in 4 months. Don't tell me to take a break either, I play about 10-15 hours a week now because I can't stand to play anymore. Today was my first session in 4 days.
Most every session I quit poker pissed off. I have holes in my wall and a graveyard of broken keyboards under my desk from the frustrations of poker (and handling it poorly).
I'm an intravert. I'm good looking and I haven't gotten laid in a few months. I spend too much time at home. I hate my life.
Poker players have gotten a lot better and the hold em tables are drying up online. Don't quit anything to be a professional online player. Ask palman. Playing for a living was great for about 4 months. I am updating and sending out my resume starting tomorrow. Good luck all. Put me in the "couldn't hack it as a poker player" pile. Anything is better than this feeling. I have no idea why anyone would want to play this game all the time. "

Wow. I quit my job and dropped out of college to play poker online, kinda scary for me to read that.
