Hmm, what to do with this QQ?

My image at this table is pretty aggressive -- I've been raising it up a bunch and winning pots uncontested, and I just sucked out when I bet my middle pair on the flop and hit my kicker on the turn. Button is 24/13/3.3 and kind of sucks, SB is 24/10/2.3 and is OK.

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (10 handed)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with [Qs], [Qd].
3 folds, Hero raises, 3 folds, Button 3-bets, SB calls, 1 fold, Hero caps, Button calls, SB calls.

Flop: (13 SB) [8h], [Jh], [8c] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, Button raises, SB calls, Hero :?:

Exactly, with 24/13, CO's probably raising there with suited paint or offsuited Broadway connectors.

SB on the other hand, could easily have JJ, AJ or AK.

I agree with piers--3-bet and go from there. It will tell you where you are.

Well I went a different route on this one, as I smelled a rat in the SB's play. An OK player with TAGish numbers probably isn't calling the preflop 3-bet without a pair or AK/AQ here, and I don't think he calls two cold on the flop with A high.

Flop: (13 SB) [8h], [Jh], [8c] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, Button raises, SB calls, Hero calls.

Turn: (9.50 BB) [5c] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, Button checks.

River: (9.50 BB) [6h] (3 players)
SB bets, Hero calls, Button folds.

Final Pot: 11.50 BB

Results
SB has [8d] [8s] (four of a kind, eights).
Hero has [Qs] [Qd] (two pair, queens and eights).
Outcome: SB wins 11.50 BB.

SB probably should fold that preflop, but on the other hand I've been playing aggressively and the button is a bit of a donk, so maybe he should consider reraising. Kind of hairy though if any overcards drop.

I think his flop play is fine, but once he sees me slow down I think he should donk the turn to try to trap me for more bets.

In a situation like that (from the SB's point of view) he needed to bet that turn (to represent the flush draw). I mean, at that point only one card in the deck could even POTENTIALLY hurt him (another J, assuming someone has JJ--which they didn't).

I'm glad he didn't take more bets from you though, and you had to call on the river. Damn, Norton, he called 2.5 COLD with 88 from the SB? Sheesh.
