I am new to poker. I am reading a lot (books plus online, including here and UPF), and I feel like I'm learning quickly. I have not yet staked any money at all, and probably won't for a while. So far I'm just playing the free tables at Ultimate Bet.
I spent several hours per day for a few weeks playing limit poker at UB. Recently I have started playing no-limit. I'm winning regularly and easily, but even *I* can tell that these people are either total morons or don't care AT ALL whether or not they win. So far I've tripled my chips (or better) in no limit several times just by waiting for AA, KK, or QQ, then moving all-in pre-flop, and being called by 2 OR MORE people every time (who are playing A9, K7, T8, etc). In limit I've been re-raised and capped on the river by people who literally have nothing (not even ace high) in a five-way pot. Sheesh.
Anyway, when I do start playing for real, maybe in a few months, it's likely to be with a bankroll of about 100 bucks. Maybe 200 tops.
I like the look and feel of Ultimate Bet. The only other site I have played at is Pacific Poker, which is ugly. But if the fish there are bigger and dumber, I would be willing to live with ugly.
Does anyone have advice as to where I should deposit my first hundred bucks, to have the most chance to keep it alive and growing? I guess I'm looking for the best combination of (a) weak play, (b) low limits, and (c) low rake at those low limits, with (d) a decent look-and-feel a secondary consideration. (I know that UB has $.01/$.02 limit poker available with no rake at all -- but that seems too low to even bother with. Or is it?)
I plan to start with ring games, if that makes a difference.
I will play very, very low limits at first. I am patient, and not looking to make any particular $ per hour -- just to win a teensy little bit of money while I improve my game.
Thanks for any and all advice.
