Me and some friends run rake free, completely legal, home games on a regular basis. There has been a sudden increase in the number of players interested in our game that are under 18. We are considering a "must be 18 or older to play" rule.
Is anyone aware of any legal issues if we allow a minor to gamble with us? I'm worried about the ever nubulous "contributing to the deliquency of a minor" type of thing. Anyone have any thoughts on this subject?

I believe all home games are illegal in Texas, rake or no rake. I dont think having people under 18 matters.

Then again, it certainly wouldn't help matters if you were caught.

Home games are not illegal in Texas. As long as the game is in a private place, no economic benefit to anyone, yadda yadda yadda. The minor thing is something I know nothing about though.

Can you legally buy and claim prizes from lottery tickets in Texas if you are under 18? If you can then you are probably safe. Legal gambling age is usually the same as the legal smoking/drinking ages.
