I'd swap In search of Schrodingers Cat for Fabric of Reality by David Deutsch.

Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk (guy who wrote Fight Club) is quality, twisted but good. Libra by Don DeLillo is top notch also, as is Great Apes by Will Self.

I'll get on my soapbox here and declare that Catcher in the Rye is the most overrated book ever.

So I just bought the dell 2001FP monitor. $500 and change.

After just buying the red sox tickets AND not doing great in poker lately, I feel like I have poor money managing skills but really I think it's ok.

After I bought my car, I made about $18,000 without spending any except on gas, rent, and sushi so now I'm buying myself a few little treats.

Wow.

So just as I was saying I was spending more than I was making I had an incredible $20/$40 session on Interpoker.

I made $111 playing heads up $10/$20 (busted a guy with $200 then someone hit and runned me for a little of that).

But the real highlight was the shorthanded $20/$40 table I was at. I went on a real nice rush and ended up winning $2,443.52. I also cleared the bonus.

2 hours, $2654.52. Take that $2000 PLO session that I blew $2000 on a few days ago!

So I've been reading some of ZeeJustin's blog lately and I read his trip report for the EPT (European Poker Tour) and this sounded pretty sweet. A big televised tournament, that 19 year old Jaime (thats me) can enter!? I'm intrigued.

Does anyone know if Pokerstars asks you for your date of birth when you sign up? If they do, I probably said I was born in like 1982 so I'd be 21 instead of 18 (although I find out now that you can play there at 18). If they didn't then I really think I'll take a shot at a few of these satellites. Would it even matter if I did that, as I'm still old enough to play in the events, I wouldn't be surprised if I could enter.

limit poker = varience

kenny + varience = things breaking

things breaking + kenny = tilt

tilt + kenny = kenny broke

From this equation we realize:
kenny < limit poker

I went to my favorite sushi place to calm myself down from the $5000 thing because frankly I don't think I would have otherwise. I LOVE the oyster katsu there. It is simply delicious. Anyway, this thing is supposed to be about poker......or something.

Entered my first 2 Dublin Satellites for the EPT. One was a 30 FPP and the other was $13 with rebuys. The $13 with rebuys was a rebuy, top 7 moved on to the real satellite, like 85 entered. I got 15th. It was a turbo so it's nice and quick, although skill is largely thrown out the window after 40 minutes. Let me rephrase that, post flop skill is. You gotta know your pre flop math and be able to estimate an opponents range of hands well in those all in pre flop pushfests. The 30 FPP one was like 700 people and only 8 moved on or something and I just didn't have the energy for that crap so I donked off my chips fairly quickly. Then I hopped on interpoker for some real poker. Despite MK's advice I played more heads up limit :D. Although I agree 30 pound / 60 pound was a bit too big. I played $30/$60 for 1 hour and managed another $1118 win.

I think I'm gonna drive to my mom's tommorow and pick up some stuff including books and pick out this coming week's book of the week. I may also stop at border's and pick up a few of the suggested readings from you folks, I'm gonna go on Amazon and see which ones look like they are up my alley.

I asked a few friends for favorite book choices, I asked you guys, and I picked some on my own. I eventually compiled a 31 book list that I now plan on tackling. I wrote them all down on a piece of paper, cut em up, and threw it in my 2004 World Series Champions hat. I then took them out 1 by 1 and numbered them and now have my order for reading them which was done completely randomly. It goes as follows:

1. Wild Animals I Have Known
2. The Last Word
3. The Clockwork Orange
4. The Perks of Being a Wallflower
5. Breakfast of Champions
6. Slaughterhouse Five
7. The Gambler
8. A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius
9. In Search of Schrodinger's Cat
10. Brave New World
11. JOB: A Comedy of Justice
12. Pilgrims at Tinker Creek
13. Great Apes
14. The World According to Garp
15. Six Easy Pieces
16. Cat's Cradle
17. The Fountainhead
18. Six Not So Easy Pieces
19. The Boat That Wouldn't Float
20. Invisible Monsters
21. QED
22. Down the River with Henry David Thoreau
23. Lost in the Cosmos
24. The Elegant Universe
25. Chronicle of a Death Foretold
26. Notes from Underground
27. Atlas Shrugged
28. The Stranger
29. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
30. Zarathustra
31. Fabric of Reality
