I know there's a quote out there about how when stuff looks too good to be true it usually is. Well, whoever said that must have played NL O8.

It has to be the most frustrating game on the planet. One day you are raking in pots faster than you can count them, the next day you are cursing guys out left and right. Variance, shmariance, I hate it.

Tried going LAG last night, since it seemed to be working pretty well for everyone else. Shoulda played GTA on the PS/2 instead. The whole thing about "play a shipload of hands and you'll get paid off when you actually have a hand" is all well and good, but when you're AA24 preflop all in gets called by 56TJ and gets scooped, well that sucks. When, on the very next hand you get AA45 and the same thing happens, well, it really sucks. Another stack is gone later when the typical nut low/nut flush draw on the flop fails to hit.

The weird thing is, the $50 games on PS are (or at least they were this weekend) looser than the $25 tables usually are.

Doesn't sound like you were really tilting stacks away, moreso just getting sodomized by some rather lucky opponents. I can't imagine a game like NLO8 being good for the blood pressure, though...even though you obviously got your stack in as a big favorite, isn't O8 the type of game that it's hard to be a really huge favorite preflop? Or is that statement more applicable to omaha hi...ah well, as has been stated in the past, my knowledge of omaha is pretty comparable to monk's knowledge of heterosexual intercourse...I'm just wondering if NLO8 might be a bad game for someone that doesn't dig variance?

Yeah, TW, that was kinda the tip of the berg. Ended up down about $220 overall between the $50 and $25 tables. Still up for the month, but not by much.
