(Party Poker software solution at bottom of post)

Tonight I fired up a couple tables of Party Poker Limit 1/2.
As soon as I got on my first table, I got QQ in the hole and thought cool, I'm gonna make some money on the first hand. I was in late position and raised it to $2 and got 4 callers. The flop comes down Qxx (suit not important) BB bets and I'm really thinking I'm gonna get some money from this hand now. BB opens the betting and gets called by at least one player before it gets to me. It finally gets to me and BAM! the software FUCKS ME OVER BUT GOOD!!!! It FOLDS my hand instantly without me ever doing a thing! I'm PISSED!! right about then my 2nd table opens up and I sit down at it and the same damn thing happens except I prolly would have lost that hand. All I lost was $1 of the 2nd one. At this point I'm fuming because this is like the umpteenth time this has happened to me in the last 2 months at Party and Empire. So I decide I'm going to call them up and demand that they give me the money I SHOULD have had a chance to win. Of course, I'm also thinking in the back of my brain that there no way in hell they are going to give me any money over this.

I was wrong.

I got on the horn with them and got some woman who sounded like she was from some country near the Indian ocean. At this point I really thought I was wasting my time because I had to have her slow down and say everything twice so that I could understand her. She asked me for the hand numbers and I gave them to her. She looked them up and said that it looked like I lost $2 on the first hand and $1 on the second and that it was because I had timed out. At this point I cry NAY NAY!!!! I did NOT time out, the software folded me instantly when it was my turn. So she goes and talks to the tech guys and then comes back to phone and proceeds to go into this long explanation about servers and crap like that which I probably would have been barely able to grasp had she been fluent in english let alone, errr, I'm getting off track.
Anyways, she finally says that she has been given the OK to credit my account for the $2. I told her I was not happy with that as if she would check the hand history again, she would see that I would definitely have won that $17 pot had I not been folded. The guy who did rake the pot did so with Ace high!!! She then says, "well, looking at your account, I see that you are a good customer so I will credit your account $10". I was floored. I never actually expected this to happen. I figured I would just be given the run around and then basically be told tough shit. Now, I know $10 isn't $17 or more that I would have won had I been able to play the hand, but I thanked for her time and she credited me instantly.
Thanks Party Poker. I'm pleasantly surprised.

Anyone else ever have something like this happen? Or is this not the usual outcome?

As for how to solve the software problem. This is what the software techs at Party told me to do. It seems to be working so far but we will see.

1. Uninstall the software
2. Clear internet cache and cookies from web browser
3. Restart computer
4. Download the software again
5. Re-Install, only this time do not install it in the default directory. Instead of C:/program files/Partypoker , change it to C:/Partypoker. Basically, when the little window comes up asking if you want to install it to the default directory, just highlight the first slashmark and the words "Program Files" then hit the backspace button. Continue with the installation like normal from here.

I hope this works for you but unless there was a bug in the software that you had previously installed that they fixed it is unlikely to be on your computer. More likely something is wrong on the server end. Hopefully they fixed whatever messed up the first time.

I worked in a call center and know how some of this stuff works. Depending on the company, management tells people to do whatever is necessary to keep customers happy which include giving credits up to a certain amount. They don't often don't say it can be given initially but if you keep pushing, they give it to you.

For example, I worked for a broadband phone company that I won't name. Often, the service sucks and we couldn't really fix it while it worked perfectly for others. However, whenever people call to cancel, it goes to a certain group of people that are authroized to do whatever to save the customer even giving free months of service. Therefore, people would call up every month to cancel, get a free month of service and wait til next month and start it all over again.

Rhound,
I've only played one session since I tried what they suggested. It worked that time but I'll wait for a bunch more sessions before I give it a final yay or nay.

Briachek,
So basically you're telling me that I didn't get anything special and that I should call them up every time this happens? Thanks for the reply, it's nice to have a little inside info on the inner workings of stuff.

well, i don't know about calling them up all the time because we did note accounts and certain people were known throughout the call center and by managers by name. They often got things but everyone hated them and we are less likely to just give it to them in the future. We can see what had been done to accounts in the past and if are a known complainer, it will just be "fuck him. Cancel his account" Call with legitamate concerns, it will often be taken care of. Call with nothing but to complain and get someone with some balls on the phone with you (like me), you get nothing plus notes never to give you anything in the future. I was pretty much a supervisor so if you got someone like me, we can make things happen for you or make sure nothing ever happens for you again.
