... that playing 34o is -EV.

Never in a million years would I have thought she flopped the straight, and nothing else looked scary at all. Especially since her VP$P is 84% - meaning that Ax was a very realistic possibility.

Party Poker 0.15/0.30 Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Hero is Button with [Ad], [Qc].
1 fold, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, MP2 =#A500AF(Villian)/ calls, MP3 calls, CO calls, Hero calls, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (8 SB) [Ah], [5d], [2h] (8 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG+1 bets, MP1 folds, Villian raises, MP3 calls, CO folds, Hero 3-bets, SB folds, BB folds, UTG+1 calls, Villian caps, MP3 folds, Hero calls, UTG+1 calls.

Turn: (11 BB) [Tc] (3 players)
UTG+1 checks, Villian bets, Hero calls, UTG+1 calls.

River: (14 BB) [7s] (3 players)
UTG+1 bets, Villian raises, Hero calls, UTG+1 3-bets, Villian caps, Hero calls, UTG+1 calls.

Final Pot: 26 BB

Results in white below:
UTG+1 has 5s 5c (three of a kind, fives).
Villian has 3c 4d (straight, five high).
Hero has Ad Qc (one pair, aces).
Outcome: Villian wins 26 BB.

Ok, I've now seen 72o win twice in a row.

Is UTG+1 just as bad? I'd fold on the river unless they're both total maniacs - the kind who don't like to look at cards because it takes the fun out of the game...

Also, the aggression stats here are more relevant than the VP$IP

Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

So, "raise pre-flop" seems to be the consensus here. AQo is probably right on the border of what I'd consider raising - but then I see that I was on the button here.

Would you guys raise AQo from any position, or just the later positions?

Totally agree with norton, EP9, and everybody else.

I have a 16% VP$IP and a 7% PFR. If I see AQ, it's getting raised, ESPECIALLY first in. From the button, I'm raising first in with pretty much any suited Broadway, any offsuit Broadway connectors (KQ, QJ, JT)--I'm raising with a lot.

AQ is a definite raise for me from the button.

I wisely got out of this one pre-flop, but MP2 is capping every street with nothing but an OESD!

This is the kind of stuff that just leaves me shaking my head in wonder.

Party Poker 0.15/0.30 Hold'em (10 handed)

Preflop: Hero is SB with [As], [8s].
UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 calls, MP1 raises, MP2 3-bets, 1 fold, CO calls, 3 folds, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 folds, MP1 caps, MP2 calls, CO calls, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls.

Flop: (22.46 SB) [Th], [3c], [Jh] (5 players)
UTG checks, UTG+1 checks, MP1 bets, MP2 raises, CO calls, UTG calls, UTG+1 folds, MP1 3-bets, MP2 caps, CO calls, UTG calls, MP1 calls.

Turn: (19.23 BB) [7d] (4 players)
UTG checks, MP1 bets, MP2 raises, CO calls, UTG folds, MP1 3-bets, MP2 caps, CO calls, MP1 calls.

River: (31.23 BB) [6s] (3 players)
MP1 bets, MP2 raises, CO folds, MP1 3-bets, MP2 caps, MP1 calls.

Final Pot: 39.23 BB

Outcome: MP1 wins 39.23 BB.
