Can't get the converter to work...

I'm middle position with

MP1 limps, I raise. Folded around to BB who calls and MP1 calls. MP1 is rated as Tight Neutral/Unknown and BB is Ultra-Agressor.

(Pot 6.5 small bets) Flop comes

BB bets, MP1 calls, I raise and both opponents call.

(Pot 6.25 big bets) Turn is

BB checks, MP1 checks, I bet and both opponents call.

(Pot 9.25 big bets) River is

BB bets, MP1 folds, I fold. BB wins pot and doesn't show his cards.

I feel like my game is improving everyday and I'm laying down hands that are clearly beat rather than putting in another bet to have them show me their drawout. Am I just fooling myself or do you agree that this was a good laydown?

Tough river Leon. With the pot size at nearly 10.5 BB on your call I think I would have called here in the small chance he held a hand like A10 which could have very well been played like this. As the pots get big it is almost always correct to call one more bet on the end if you have a decent hand and there is no chance of a raise from a third party. Here your call would have ended the betting. Most times in this situation you are going to lose you just have to weigh that chance against the odds you are getting and in this sitution you only have to be winning about 10% of the time and against an agressive opponent who may very well bet A10 here I think your chances are higher than that.

Agreed. Pot size at that point was the main reason I was on the fence at the end of the hand. Some of that SSH book actually did stick!

His bet into me on the flop could easily have been something like A10 as you mentioned. I didn't actually consider that. Hmm. Pot size combined with his aggressiveness...I can see why you'd consider making that call with no threat of further action.
