I can understand this a lot more if he was being the agressor. However, he was calling all the way down.

Apparently Ribbo's reputation at 2+2 is not entirely uncontroversial, and he posts similar hands there himself, although here he was the aggressor:

I've played with him quite a lot. I tend to mostly stay out of his way because he is quite unpredictable and I'm never entirely sure where I'm at against him. I suspect he probably mostly stays out of my way too because he'll doubtless have notes on me saying things like "Mostly bets with strong hands".

I really don't get hands like this. I'm not an O8 master and I'd suggest i'm only a reasonable player of PLO8, certainly nowhere near as good as I am at PLO, but hands like the first one you posted are surely just absurd - there's no way you can make an excuse for playing like that. What possible range can you put your opponent on for this to be +EV??? I just don't think there is one.

He claims to make a load of money and I've played him live on at least one occasion i'm aware of. I do believe he's not BSing and is a pro. Perhaps he's some sort of quasi-conscious-idiot-savant who's realised that posting really horrible hands on 2+2 and becoming known on the net for his crazy wacko LAG play is a really great way to get paid off the 95% of the time he plays solid, aggressive O8? Actually, that makes a hell of a lot of sense
