My turn action can be debated but I thought he might have 56 also so I just called to see the river first and I hit my card. back door second to nuts. Its hard for him to fold 56 now right? Like my river all in or too much?

I would raise the turn to punish a set or a flush draw.
I'm not sure if I would raise the river at all; what do you expect to get called with?
Besides, calling down with a flopped straight on all streets will generate quite a bit of confusion in your observant opponents... next time you raise your straight when you have redraws and they will think you're bluffing this time.

i didn't exactly call down. I bet the flop then he donked me on the turn.

I know, but what I meant was:

1) i would raise the turn
2) the way you played it (i.e. call turn), I would call the river.
3) if you play it like 2), then you will create some confusion in your opponents' heads (which is of course a good thing, but something you have to take into your account in future hands with them).

Besides, if you think your opponent is good, and would flat call with a straight because he is vulnerable to redraws, then his bet can very well mean that he doesn't want it to get checked around, and I would think it very likely that he has the straight. In that case you know he probably has the same hand as you and doesn't have the flush draw or a set, in which case a spade on the river or a paired board could be a good steal opportunity. Against a bad player, I would not raise the river.

Either that or he didn't have 56.
