Donkbetting in shorthanded O8?

I've been playing some 6-handed 2-4 O8 on stars, and I wonder whether you guys think that donk-betting has a place in this game, and if yes, under what conditions and in which situations.

I'm thinking of the following. You're in the BB, and the button open-raises. He will raise 50% of the time in that spot. He is not very tricky or advanced.
SB folds, and you call with something like KQ23. Flop comes JJ4.

What is your line here? Assume that your opponent will make a continuation bet regardless. I've tried the following: check-call flop, lead the turn no matter what falls. If the turn is a high card, he will almost always fold if he doesn't have the J, and if he raises you can safely fold. If the turn is low and he calls, then you can bet the river if the low misses.

What kind of hands do you defend with against a straightforward, non-tricky player? What kind of flops do you try to steal on? When do you simply give up on the flop? When do you prefer to checkraise the flop or the turn?

Discuss.
