here's is my question... if you bet the river and get raised, do you fold? your stats say "no, i don't fold", but i wonder whether you should.

i'm not even going to comment about whether to value bet or not, as i basically think that it's read dependent. futhermore, you guys play in a wacky game (and you seem to bring out the worst in people), so i have no idea what to put villain on. is this a guy who will call down with any part of the board? if so, then a value bet is good. if he's a TP-or-better-showdown guy, then no value bet. all other things being equal, the bet is good for getting a better 9 to possibly fold.

I think checking with the intention of calling has its merits too. Anyone who hit a small pair or has a pocket pair in the hole will usually assume you whiffed completely and make their own 'value bet'. I know I would (against most people). You'll also induce bluffs from busted draws/other whiffs. And if they do have a better hand, you get away cheap.

This is a tough one though. I'd want a bet to go in on the river one way or the other, but the fact that you 3-bet preflop may make them less likely to bet. I'd probably go ahead and bet the river now that i think about it. But in a normal headsup situation when I'm out of position agaisnt an aggressive guy and have semi-weak holdings, I like the check call. Bad for the PT stats, but it seems to make me money.

PS: Kuso - I've never seen a 6max game where a better 9 (or any 9 for that matter) is going to fold this on the river.

Redhouse fortunately most players do not value bet the river as properly as you apparenty do, so checking and calling here I think is wrong because only the better players make nice thin marginal value bets on the river here like you're saying. They say "he prolly has AK", like you say, but instead of getting $20 more value on the river like you would, they happily check behind cause they don't want to get called and lose and look stupid or even worse get check raised.

Dunno man, I don't have much experience at anything higher than 5/10. But the games I play (party and pacific), it seems like a lot of people bet whenever they're checked to. I might have to revisit this when I move to 10/20.
