Well it depends on the limit. Often at $5/$10 people will pay attention enough to notice but not enough to care. They will know full well that you haven't played a hand in 45 mintues, but when you come in for a raise, they still won't fold their KJ. At higher limits people will adjust. But it still doesn't matter that much, as long as you know. Having the image of a rock or a maniac can both be very beneficial, you simply have to know which image you have. Having the image of a rock can be real good, you can steal blinds and small pots much more liberally.

I think having a tight image can be very good for you. For me, I am very rocky pre-flop, but will bet anything after the flop and will pull off some complex bluffs with nothing HU. Basically, I get respect for my bets most of the time b/c of my pre-flop tightness. Some would argue this is no good because it's harder to get paid off on big hands, but probably 90% of the flops won't make you very strong hands and in the long run this is where you must play better than most(picking up pots as often as possible). So I say let the idiots and maniacs play loose and crazy with their erroneous "gotta be in to win" type slogans.

I completely agree w/ Xas. I dont set out to try to create an image, but I pay attention to what my current table image is and USE it.

Ive never played in a live 5/10 game that wasnt equal or as bad as .50/1.00 on PP.

I understand, but, very few places around here play NL...I know one, with one table, and it's always the same 7 guys taking the newbies money, looks like to me.

There is an interesting NL tourny at the Palace in Hayward. Four tables winner takes like $1,200. Saturday at noon. I'm fixing to give that a shot one of these days. I think second is around $700 or $800.

Damn it, I was hoping to go to a casino over break back in the Bay Area but you say there isn't much NL ring there. Actually if I remember right there's hardly any 18+ poker casino's up there anyway. Weak

There's no under 18...except the Indian casinos...Table Mountain above Fresno is 18, no liquor.

Dude. Whats that one in Daly City called? Oh yeah. Lucky chances- they have a crapload of nl. So does San Pablo. As for under 21 casinos, cache creek is the only one i can think of.

sidenote: MAN am i glad i moved down south. Bay area poker is the nut low.

but, if your ever in sacramento, i cant say enough about the phoenix casino in citrus heights. The 10/20 kill game there is like no other, and if oyu tellem Rich sentcha youll geta swift kick in the nards.

Whats this thread about? Oh yeah image. Striker got it right- your cards and shown hands determine what your image is, then just gear up or down. Play the opposite of how people think you are playing, and they'll make mistakes, to put it simplistically. Read Vorhaus's killer holdem, he says alot of good stuff on this.

Also, dont do drugs, and stay in school!
