I've got a brother who lives about an hour north of Reno, and it looks like we're going to go visit him next month. I'm sure we'll end up in Reno at least once or twice, and that seems like a good time to play some live games for the first time ever.

So, where would you guys recommend for a first-time live player in the great city of Reno? I'd like to stick to limit - either hold-em or Omaha, and my bankroll is still relatively small, so smaller limits would be nice. (I'm thinking around $2/$4 or so)

Do they have poker rooms in Reno?

Yeah they do, I played 2/4 there a coupld years ago. Though I was hammered and dont remeber where I played.

IMHO the best 2/4 game in Reno is at the Peppermill. The poker room was just remodeled and it is one of the nicest casinos if your family will be spending time at the slots or other casino games while you play poker.

The 3/6 game at the El Dorado is another option if you are downtown. They also spread a true No Limit Hold Em game (unlimited buy-in) that is fun to watch.

There are also a number of No-Limit Hold Em tournaments in Reno on a daily basis. The $20+5 at Harrah's at 10 am is as good as any.

An hour north of Reno lands you in or near Susanville. The Diamond Mountain Casino (Indian Casino) has a game, but I have not played there yet so I can't comment one way or the other.
