I liked the way I played this hand. I was very tempted to pot the flop but I have done that in the past which was a mistake. I was also tempted to bet the river but I would die if I got CRed and I don’t see anyone who I have beat calling.

Hey goop, sat with you for a little while last night. Unfortunately, I was completely card dead at that table and never got to mix it up at all. I tried to isolate AoG early on when I had AA24 and it was raised by him, then reraised by another. I potted, but AoG folded. Unfortunately, 3 others called and the pot got scooped by A38Q when the board came 37Q93. I never got a hand to do anything with after that.

Decent session, played pretty well made a couple of hands and got sucked out a couple of times.

Dude, a367 ds a bad call preflop? I will call a raise with that hand 99% of the time, 100% vs AoG. It's not a hand that wins you half a pot like A2, it's a hand that wins you stacks and 3/4 pots. The key is being able to lay it down on a bad flop.....umm....like that one.

I'd have dumped to action on the flop, but if I had stuck around I like a 1/2 pot bet on the turn. If you take it down, fine, if not, proceed with caution.

He hit his gin card on the river with a total crap hand, that sucks, and you already know about the river call. I constantly remind myself about Kuso's theory on laying down hands when 3 wheel cards hit the board. Every time I fold one of those and save a bet or 2 I thank Kuso and note the player if he had something as shite as that. Then I eat some licorice.

Pre-flop I don't like the call because AoG makes continuation bets so frequently. After a raise he is going to play fast so I need a hand that will stand up to lots of heat. I don't think this hand hits a flop frequently enough to withstand the heat that I know is coming.

My guess is that calling might by slightly +EV but will also increase variance.

Edit: I totally agree with everything else you wrote. Theoretically I am supposed to be getting better at this game the more hands I play but hands like this really make me wonder.

I like the raise because I think if he had 2 pair or a set he would have bet before now. His bet felt like a smaller flush or trips, both of which would call that bet and if he raises I have no trouble throwing it away.

Yet another eh session (I think that makes 4 in a row). I didn’t play exceptionally well and I didn’t make hands. I won 1 huge hand that made up for everything, but the rest of the session was pretty bad.

Overall, I think I am playing too loose post flop. I am getting impatient not making any hands and I make calls that I shouldn’t. I have always had trouble giving donks credit for hands and over this bad run I have had even more trouble. For the next few sessions I am going to focus heavily on upping my W$SD. I am going to make sure that in medium sized pots I am only showing down winners.

This was actually 2 sessions, but it would be too large a pain to separate them in PTO so I am just going to count it as one.

In the first session I didn’t make any cards, got sucked out a bunch of times, and paid people off after I got sucked out.

In the second session I played good for the first time in a long time. I was still getting sucked out but I was limiting the damage. I must have checked behind on the river 3 times after a suck out card, and I check folded another 2.

In the second session I must have had a 80% success ratio on stealing. I was making very good reads. On a side note I have been using JDs ½ pot on the river for both value bets and steals and I really like it. It seems to work nearly as well as a full pot bet for steals and it risks less money.

Another interesting note about this session, I made 4 nut str8s and lost a total of $55 on those 4 hands. I made 1 bad call (see below) but the other 3 times I either had to fold to a board pair or I got all in and got sucked out by a board pair.

I have decided that I don’t care about not winning hands at showdown; I am going to create winning sessions. I am going to play so well that every time I get sucked out I am going to check behind or check fold. Furthermore I am going steal so many pots with the worst hand that I am still going to have positive sessions.

That was what I did this session; I folded to soooo many bad rivers and I stole a ton of pots from IP. This is the best that I have played since November, but I still wasn’t winning at showdown so I could only post a meager session.

I got 1/4ed 4 times HU in this session! I don’t want to post all the hand histories but here are summaries
