TUP...yeah I think your posts are great. Very inciteful and I love the 3 month journal of a pro player in Vegas. It gives us certain goals to shoot for and shows us what to expect in the daily grind.

The online poker world is certainly a lot different then what you play. Still, I find this info very much benefical for me and my new poker career. Good luck with your school and future endeavors. I hope you stay on this forum; it's the best poker community that I know of and I'm sure I'm not the only one who looks foward to your posts.

Hey all,

Well the phone service and hence my online connection was out again and so I got a few days behind - caught up now though. Hopefully I'm back on for good.

You're my hero.

If you had added the draw games to your arsenal of awesomeness, well, you'd be my superhero!

When do you play the other games? Just as an occasional break from HE? Do they spread high limit heads up at many casino's? If so, do you ever play?

TUP,
Hope you reach your goal!

Could you do me a favor and respond to my post under the bankroll page about gambling taxes. This is my first year as a pro...I'm still learning. Any info would be much appreicated since I know next to nothing about tax law concerning poker.

thanks!

Europe is about the only place where live PLO is spread with any regularity, and even here I'm afraid it's sadly being overtaken by NL in most casinos outside of a few ones in the main cities. London still has a lot of big games, with the victoria square grosvenor offering some real big PLO games where you'll find people sitting with £10,000 or more (though I believe the biggest BB is usually £10 or £20). In the USA and even Vegas it's nigh on impossible to find a live game, then? Perhaps the rise in popularity of omaha on the internet will mean it makes a comeback, because in all honesty I think I see about as many people online nowadays playing omaha hi as hi/lo and you're saying that the hi only variant is only spread infrequently, whereas I know hi/lo is second behind holdem for number of live games over the pond.

Do you think omaha high will ever really catch on in US casinos, or has the advent of the WPT on TV and the massive popularity of these low buy-in NL games likely taken away that possibility? I wonder sometimes if casinos spread more choice in games if we wouldnt see a lot more people who learnt on holdem moving into trying different things; I know I'd have never learnt games other than stud or 5-card draw without the popularity of holdem on TV, and the choice of other games available online etc. It's all about exposure and opportunity to play them, I guess.

If you're ever in the UK maybe you can catch a game of PLO english-style, it would be great to see you over here :D !

Monk I think that NLHE is going to be the game for a while, omaha isnt as good on TV. I love omaha especialy O8 since there are so many draws and so much to calculate, but this is exactly what doesnt work for TV, the casual player at home isn't good enough at reading poker hands to even understand what the players are looking for to win, half of the time. This is why NLHE is so huge it looks so easy, you only get 2 cards. Since this is what everyone see's as easy on TV this is what all the players want to play when they go to a casino.

There was some Omaha on TV in the UK recently (Sky Sports Poker Championship, held in Russia, I think it was). Russia, Britain, The Ukraine, Scotland, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden and a shedload of others competed in teams against each other.

They alternated between stud, omaha and holdem. It was pretty enjoyable.

i would just like to say that the beginning of his current great week started with me visiting him at the casino so I am obviously a good luck charm. But seriously, it was a lot of fun to watch him work the table, telling stories, being the life of the party then....BAM! all their money is in his stack. Keep up the good work and good "luck."
