If he raises, i'm in trouble, should i just take the free card?

I bet that to make sure someone doesn't back into a flush and to start building the pot.

Hand 2
I would check behind. With that flop call I would put him on a set, 2 pair, or a str8 draw. I think most likely he would have re-raised a set and unless he is really bad he isn’t going to be playing a str8 draw on a 2 flush board. That leaves 2 pair which most likely means he just filled up.

Either he is still drawing in which case you have him in really bad shape and he most likely won’t call your bet, or you have 9 outs. I just see very few hands that call a turn bet that you beat, and if you check behind and catch one of your 10 outs you may bust him.

Hand 1: Check - board is a rainbow so no flush is going. Set or 2 pair are very likely. Take the free card.

Hand 2: Check. You unless you pair up on the river I wouldn't put another cent into the pot. You also can't be confident with diamonds because you are holding 4 of them. Hope that you pair another card in your hand on the river.

goop, hand 1, the board is a rainbow on turn. no flush possible. The only thing the Q does is taint my 9 out because TJ will make a higher backdoor straight.

Hand 1 I like betting again. Sets up a possible river bluff if you both miss your likely straight outs, and your 8 may even be good at this point. Plus, it puts pressure on something like a weedy overpair (which is well ahead of you here) to fold.

Hand 2 read is important but I can see checking to be a decent play as you want to let him see a river if he's drawing to a non-nut flush for obvious reasons.
