From Part 5.1A of the PT Guide

As calculated by dividing core+marginal $$ won over past 10,000 hands by the amount lost by playing the junk hands.


My figures are:

core +$926
marginal +$140
=$1066

Junk hands -$171

Junk Hand Leak (171/1066)= 16%

As you might have noticed this poll refers to Part 5.1A of the guide which has been written but not officially put up yet.

= +1,087

Junk Hands -390 (!!!!!!!!)

Junk Hand Leak 390/1,087=36% (!!!!!!)

Ladies and Gentleman, I would suggest highly that you do this.

These numbers are for my last 21K hands at limit only.

1/2 limit on party, 8,298 hands played out of the blinds 8 or more people at the table.

Core = $1,115.87
Marginal = $193.08
= $1,308.95

Junk Hands = -$29.87

Junk hand leak 29.87/1308.95 = .0228 = 2.28%

Looks like I'm doing pretty good. I thought I was too tight sometimes but maybe not.

You shouldn't be losing money with your marginal hands - how is you early and late position marginal split? If marginal hands are on the marginal/junk border and are LP losers for you they need relegating to your junk list...If you had just stuck to playing your core hands you would be over $500 better off (marinal and junk hands combined are a 42% leak)



Congrats to phat and bri for being so disciplined btw - in the absence of a big junk hands leak did you find the process useful anyway? did you try the positional filtering to see if you have an EP leak for marginal hands?

I think that had always been my greatest strength. I have patience and discipline to keep throwing away crappy hands and waiting for good opportunities.

The process did help and I learned a lot more about PT that I didn't know. I haven't worked through other filtering but I will in the future. Thanks for the article. Great Job.

First time post here. Thanks Excession, I have really enjoyed your analysis/articles and efforts for auto rate rules etc. What a great exercise this process is whether to spot leaks or re-affirm your play. Would like to recommend going through this to all.

My results are based on 6,613 non blind starting hands played primarily at PP $25 NL/PL with a net total of $1,650

Core result: $1,518
Marginal Result: $181

Total 1,699 Junk leak is $49 or 2.8%

looking forward to further self analysis especially a personal 'trouble hand' study.
