Crypto limit games are sooooo tight

Postby BKAZ » Mon Jan 23, 2006 2:32 pm

I don't play a lot on the crypto sights but I was playing hands for the monthly Interpoker reload and pulled up 4 $1/$2 full ring limit HE tables. I typically have GT+ running but don't pay much attention unless I need a read on a particular player to make a decision and I almost never pay attention to the table stats but noticed I had the following VP$IP stats for these tables 15%, 17%, 19% and 21%. I closed out the bottom 3 when my blinds came up and got on waiting lists for the other 2 tables for 1/2 as well as the only 2/4 full ring game going.

When I got on these tables and played a couple laps they were really no better. This was on a Sunday mid day so I would think the site would be full of recreational players but it seems like it was all bonus whores.

I play NL full ring also, but I am better at limit. Does anyone play Omaha or NL that could give me a feel for those games on the Crypto network, as well as better times to play. I don't like short handed.

I guess I am really a bonus whore too although I play most of my time without a bonus overlay, I just can't believe how tight the low limit games have become.

Yeah, the low limit at the cryptos used to be sooo loose and profitable, they were juicy as hell, an example of why I'm not keen on the effect of bonus whores, they take up too much space and do nothing.

While those games are certainly not optimal you can use that tightness to your advantage B. Open raise with more speculative hands even from EP. Raise with impunity from late position when first in with alot of hands. Call and CR the hell out of late position TA stealers from the BB. These adjustments have seemed to work very well for me in the past months as I continually show a decent profit most of the time while clearing the bonus.

Agree. The tables are tighter than say, party. But they're pretty passive for the most part. Some SLAG play is usually in order.

Agreed. Those rocks are easy to beat, it just takes patience because it's more of a grind and less of a big score.

But if you'd like to branch out a bit, try some 7-card stud. They're much looser there than at THE but still just as passive. A lot of limping, and a lot of checking around while you're getting free cards, a lot of calling/chasing with bad draws. And no aggression at all when it comes to speculative and bluff raising. They're very easy to read, and very easy to beat.

That said, I'm having a real problem winning there. I've played for something like 20 table hours there and I just can't make anything happen. I'm down 50 BB or so. There are a ton of calling stations and lots of SLAGs there.
