There are bound to be issues around marginal hands like A9o, KTo and K8o in various positions - it may just be that one player's style is better suited to making small profits with these hands than another's. I don't think playing or not playing the marginal hands makes anywhere near as much difference as say reading your opponents well.

The key story that came out of the analysis was just how positional 6 max really is - using the starting hand chats is just a way for me to impose a bit of discipline on the worst of my show-off LAg tendencies as that is what is hurting my win-rate.

Glad to see the numbers are similar- how is your win-rate al?

thanks for the article
just read it :
although i wish i could 10 tabling and show a good profit like he does, i dont think the data use for this calculation was clean enough
ie: the drop from 8.40PTBB to 2PTBB when you raise your PFR from 7 to 8% seems drastic to me.
and i have a few reservation on the process used....

A good rule of thumb in 6 max is to raise 1/4-1/3 of your hands. [edit I mean the hands you are going to play - not 25-33% of all the hands you are dealt]

I think the excat numbers are going to depend a lot on how much the guys behind you like to cold call/re-raise on any given table..

with that kind of PFR could you tell me how many time nobody call your PFR with AA in % of the total of AA hand dealt to you.
if that info is not too sensitive

http://www.andymcnish.net/SHC.doc

The above is my current 6 max starting hand chart

Having also reviewed my play I am cutting down my almost auto-continuation bet following a PFR from me.

Surprising the number of times folks don't bet back at you if you PFR then check to them on flop. You can then often take it down with a delayed CB on turn anyways..

Well not especially- i choose tables with high 'flops seen' % so perhaps they limp or cold call more than usual.

My assumption was that a check following my pre-flop raise would get at least a probe bet back.

In reality that doesn't seem to be happening as much as I'd feared. I think a check from a player as aggressive as me following a PFR makes them play cautiously unless they really have hit as they are worried about monsters under the bed..it also helps that I will do tricky stuff like check-raise and limping PF with AA and AKs etc

I was probably running 80-90% CB';s before - I think that is just too much unless you know you are betting into a weak-tightie. I'm aiming for maybe 50-60% now - including holding big hands back for check raise on occasion just in case..

short week this week - played about 5 hours split MT's/SNG's and Ring.

Up $200 at Ring (Paradise $100's and Pacific $200's) and down $80 at Tournies - no cashing :(

Least I've been busting out fast - played 2 last night - both games I played tight at beginning and had slightly smaller than average stack with blinds going up..pushed all-in pre-flop with KK - got called by AA and ATs - gone both times..

I have $420 bonus left to earn at Paradise and will keep playing Pacific $200 6 max untl I can get confimarion that the $100 bonus is mine (they use a weird 20x wagered system - no idea how they or I check).

I also have $1420 bonus at UB (and monthly RB there) and had planned to start there at beginning of this month, but the are messing around upgrading site at the moment...

I bought a great Nikon D20 digitial SLR (with 18-70mm DX lens) with last week's cashouts.

This week I only have $120 or so left to cash out so won't bother and will let it ride and lock in to increase my BR baseline. BR base is $8220 now, actual BR about $8400. Lifetime winnings $12k.

Off to Scorland tomorrow (RAF base) so will get to test out my new sat-nav (another poker present)

ah quick update - managed 1.5hrs of 2 tabling Paradise $200 5 max tonight - found a couple of awesome calling stations and made $286 which puts me up to $60/hr for the 6.5 hrs played this week and means that I can enjoy my long weekend away..

cheers guys

I don't know - is that what they base your bonus points on?

I did email support asking if I had done enough to release it but of course I have been spolit with support on sites like Stars, Bet Fred and Martin's who actually know about poker...

I got a reply that it 'released' as soon as I made my initial deposit !

It's no biggie (only $100) but I've still no idea if can add it to my Bankroll or not (at the moment I have to subtract $100 from the actual total shown for my bankroll purposes which is a pain).

I've played in about 9 10k guaranteeds without cashing (appalling run I know as I usually cash 1 in 3 or so MTT's) but have won the entry fees back single-tabling the $200 6 max tables (don't seem to be any at $100 or $400 for some weird reason) so I've effectively been freerolling there..

Played 3 SnG's late last night at Stars $15 turbos) and cashed in one only - boo - was leading another when I got AA and tried to get smart with a min raise pre-flop - you can guess the rest - next time I'm leading an SnG with the blinds going up to 200+ and I get AA I'm just pushing :?

Nevermind - decent week all told...

Also I followed KennyG's links to his myspace account and made my own:

http://www.myspace.com/andymcnishuk

I look very lonely at the moment with one friend but I'll sort that out later..

cheers
