Why no Mac-friendly sites?

Postby Molina » Fri Feb 18, 2005 12:44 pm

why is the miserable pokerroom.com the only site with a Mac version? Mac users, so far as i know are limited to them and the java version of pacific.

to those tech experts present, would it not be fairly easy to conjure one up? if one site can do it, why not others?

I know the answer is macs only have about a 10% market share, but i wouldn't mind buying an ibook for the summer, sitting in the garden at 4 am playing poker. buying a PC laptop just seems annoying as i have a destop that works fine.

Building a decent GUI is actually quite a bit of work, and it's much easier to build a GUI on Windows, since Microsoft has a lot of nice tools for it, than it is to build a GUI that will work on both platforms (or build separate GUIs). The market share for mac is actually about 2-3% these days, so it's hard to justify the development effort. I'm surprised that someone with the resources of Party hasn't gone after it though.

Pokerroom's GUI is Java as well.
