I put him on an overpair but did he have the flush draw too? I figured if i was gonna have any fold equity on the hand, i should make the move on the flop. If i call the flop, its all in on the turn. I know this is a no brainer if the flush draw wasn't out there but does the flush draw really make you just fold the hand?

seems fine to me. the fact that he has a SS could mean that he has anything -- including the bare flush draw. you have a backdoor flush draw, too, so that actually increases your equity not an insignificant amount.

he had AA82 rainbow and won as i didn't hit anything but what got me pissed was he then made a comment that i didn't have the flush draw after i said i had so many outs. I was a 50/50 shot against him if he didn't have the flush draw and 30% if he did but i don't give any respect to people with 1/3 or less of a buy in at a table.

Yeah, I like your play here even without the flush draw. For one thing, HU it's much less likely that he has it, in which case you have a full 13 outs. And, even if he does have it, that still gives you 9, which I don't think is horrible against a shortie. I do it in HE a lot anyway, and, assuming he has overpair WITH flush draw, your outs are then exactly the same as if you were pushing your own flush draw against an overpair--although if he does have the flush draw, I think your fold equity is effectively 0.

Actually, I think playing a little over-aggressively against short-stacks in situations like this is a good way to break up the pure nut-peddling and keep them guessing when you raise. So, I think you also get some intangible equity out of this kind of play, too.

And I agree that the backdoor flush gives you a little extra here as well.

your logic on the hand is fine.

my only hesistation is the fold equity issue. he has about 40-45% of his stack in the cener of the table at the time of your raise (right?). most shorties arent gonna fold there [their actual cards and Ev/pot equity are irrelevant in their minds, usually] but like u said - even if he calls u could be 50/50 against him.

so even if he folds VERY rarely...it could still be profitable.

i like Aisthesis' point - it was a great play for ur table image to break up only pushing the nuts. ill have to try this one soon!
