This occured last night.
The pre-flop call was terribly loose, even for me. so no need for the "fold preflop", I'm well aware of that... I'm also aware that the call put me in this situation. However, now that I'm in it, whats the best way to play it?

Reads: I'm pretty sure he has an overpair, AA or KK most likely to raise UTG. I suppose JJ is a possibility, but pretty unlikely. He could of course have a spade draw to go with that but I felt like slow-playing for once.

On to the question:

On the river, should I check behind since I'll most likely only get called by a better boat, put him all in, or bet like ½ pot for value?

I can see reasons for any of the above, actually...

It really depends a lot on how the game is playing imo. Full pot may sometimes have a chance of a caller from behind simply because it looks rather bluffy.

On the other hand, there's the question of what he can possibly put you on. You look very drawy the way the hand is played. He might think you're on flush draw with overpair... (?) If the seems likely, I'd go with full pot in the hope that he might call with AA.

Or you could have something like 4567, but that would make you stronger than your actual hand.

I guess my main question would be whether you think there's any real chance that you're behind here. I personally can hardly see JJ checking that river, but it's possible for a tricky opponent. This guy looks more to me like someone inclined to overplay his overpairs. If that's the case, I'd go either with pot (if I had done this sometime recently with a draw or something less than super-strong) or maybe with $80 or so.

If there's a real chance you're beat, I'd go with checking.

im putting him all in. like the others said, if he checks JJ (66 eek)on the end - he is too tricky for his own good...just the thought of doing that makes my skin crawl, he would have to have phenomeninal intuation that u would bet on the river..

based n ur stack sizes - it seems as though u may have some read on him.

Why didn't you raise the turn? Pot is big enough it seems, and that 6 is a scare card for him.

As played, I think I need a read in order to bet. A good player will think you've missed your draw and will definitely check JJ there. And will he really pay you off if he only has an overpair?
