My questions are:
Which site's chip/blind structures do you prefer?
Do you find that this has an effect on your win %?
I have played 170 $10 SnG's on Party in the last month. As most of you know, you start with 800 chips, the blinds go up fast and there is usually a fair amount of luck required at some point unless you have caught some big hands early. Most games last about 40 minutes as a result of the fast blind increases and heads up can be like the gunfight at the OK Corrall rather than a genuine strategy contest.
I thought I would try something else and ventured over to Poker Stars. What a difference! You get 1500 chips and the blinds go up much slower. The games can last much longer - 1hr 20mins is my longest and it seems as though there is much luck involved. I played one game where I won 32 hands, with only 4 showdowns.
Heads up lasts much longer, and you get much more time to get a genuine read on your opponents. You can even get by with a mistake or two, whereas on Party it seems that it's one mistake and you're crippled.
My ITM has gone up, I've even moved up to $20 and £30 games with a higher ITM so far (over the first 20 games though) than I get at Party where I average 42% ITM. In my view, my discipline and improving skills are being rewarded in a longer game.
So my questions are?
1. Do you believe that a longer game, such as the ones at Stars tip the balance towards better players?
2. Which sites offer you your best combination of chips and blinds?
