Raise less pre-flop. 300 or 350 would accomplish the same thing and you would have saved some chips.

Fold to BBs re-raise. Its very alarming that he didn't even shove here. Anyways, even if he shoved, this is a fold. You're just not far enough ahead of his likely range.
