Party drives me nuts !!!

Postby Kurab » Thu Dec 02, 2004 9:21 pm

Tell me if this was a good call......

Stack Sizes

Me: 1800
Lucky Boy: 500

Blinds are 50/100

Lucky Boy is in EP and goes all in

I am in the BB wth QJs _ I have watched this guy and he is quite loseI and its 450 more to call so I do.

He turns over J6o !!!!!

Well of course he gets a 6 and no help for me....and he doubles up. This is quite anoying - as this is the 8th or 9th race type situation I have lost -

I get my money in with the best hand only to lose like that - anoying.

Should I have made this call??

The rest of the tourment and night goes like this (ALl in pre flop)

AA vs K7 - board is xx7KK
A5 vs A3 - he gets a 3

AA vs QQ - Q on the flop
Countless flushes hit against my sets and large/all in bets
And countless other tortures.....

I think Party decided to take a total crapper on me tonight ...I feel like I got raped with a broomstick filled with nails.....sadly in the end I do know its just a statistical hiccup but when AA loses 4 times in a row or everyone but you hits their draw - no matter how absurd it is ....its quite anoying.

Enough ranting - I am gonna go blow away some nasty aliens in Halo 2.....

Man i hear ya. Lately i have been doing pretty good at Party, playing $10 SNGs and $20 SNGs some some $25 NL.

My last 3 tournaments have been poop. First one I during the first round, i get A J, many limpers in this hand, and flop comes Q 10 X. Someone makes a bet of 45, like everyone calls, I call trying to make a K for the nut straight. The K comes on the turn, and 3 players are all in (including me with the nuts) I knock out 3 players and am sitting on over 3000 chips with only 6 other players left with about even money 800.

Few hands later on level 2, I pick up KK, before me a guy limped in. I raised it 5x BB. Late position calls, original limper raises all in for $710. I reraise late position all in as well because i'd rather have KK go all in headup against a strange limper. They both call all in after my raise.

Me: KK
EP limper: A 4 off
Late position: A 6 of clubs.

Flop is all garbage. Of course the turn is an A and no king to save me. A 6 suited wins because the 6 played. Im down to 2400 chips.

Few hands later I pick up AA, make a hefty 7xBB raise. Guy on small blind calls out of position with KQ off, of course he flops two pair K and Q, and i bet it all the way to the end. He ended up making Qs full of Ks.

Now short stacked, I moved all in with A 9 off. Get called by A 4 and of course A 4 wins and Im out.[/list]

How many people were left in the SnG at this stage? I assume, as you are on party, you are getting pretty short handed to make a call with QJs, otherwise why are you taking the risk? Personally, I don't like playing the policeman to the table before I make the money. Having said that, to make a call on even a short stack going all in in ep with only qjs and still having the best hand is impressive- you must have had a good read on him. So, I think it is a good call, if you are into the final 4, and a reckless, if accurate one, that is probably not worth making, if more than 4 people remain. At this stage in the tourney, you must make the money above all else, IMO.

On your other hands- what are you going to do? You get all your cash in w aa pre and get called by K7. It doesn't get much better than that, and you know you want them to keep doing it. Very frustrating, but you wouldn't want it any other way.

My party bad beat from last night- down to final 4. Very loose aggressive large stack (3K) (having gone all in 3 out of 4 previous hands) is in SB, I am in BB, with 1600 or so. Blinds are 150 and 300. She raises to 600. I call w 7 9 s.

Flop is 6 8 10 ragged. She bets 300. I raise to 600. She goes all in. I call.

She shows Q 6 (bottom pair- wtf?)

Turn is a 10.

River is a 10.

She wins with the full hoose, as we say in Scotland. I get sent hame, tae think again.

There is no way that I would call with QJs, because any Ax Kx or pocket pair is a slight favorite to beat you, and many hands are very strong favorites. Even if this guy is quite loose, there is at least half a chance you're at least slightly behind. What a huge risk! That being said, it worked out this time that you got money in while ahead.

Even so, blinds were only 25/50, so you were calling 450 in hopes to win the rest of the pot, which was 625 or so including your opponent's bet. So I can see it being possible that this would be a slight +EV move against some extremely bad opponents. However, I would never risk it in an SNG, especially with about 1800 in my stack. If you lose this hand, you basically have to double up again, but if you stay at 1800 then you can probably money just by stealing blinds wisely.

Thanks for the comments guys---

In retospect it was not a great call - I think in the end what bothered me more was losing the way I did - been that way all night - get the $ in with the best hand only to lose to some moronic hand - takes a toll on you after a while
