Since your stack is too small to make a real raise without committing yourself, I might just to call and look for a favorable flop. This way, if you are against AK, you can take the pot right there instead of putting yourself in a coinflip situation preflop. If he is stupid enough to call you on the flop, you have him putting in the money as a big underdog. However, I think you will just lose your stack to AA if the flop comes all unders. The stacks are deep enough to you to recover from that if the opponent bets aggressively. Pocket Pair vs Pocket Pair is just death in a SNG and normally can't be avoided, IMO.

On second read today, I don't think calling here is out of the question. You're still seeing a relatively cheap flop. But I would be looking to hit the set or fold.

But a reraise here is not a good move, unless you're absolutely sure he would fold to it.

I have been busted out by over playing QQ so many times it's not funny. I have started treated QQ like JJ and 1010. Not like KK or AA and have had much better results.

What I would have done was called. If the flop came all unders I would have pushed all in and been busted by AA post flop instead of pre flop. I would have put the button on a steal with Ax or Kx. If A or K hit the flop I would check and see what happens. AA might have given you a free card wanting to trap you only to trap himself.

Tuff luck.

thinking of QQ as apremium hand is not a mistake. in most sitngos i play (up to the 200's and as low as the 50's) im happy to shimmy it all in whith QQ early. igo ballistic with this hand pretty much all of the time. i do play extremely tight early in these but in relatively shortstacked no limit play )which all sitngo sare QQ is just too big of a hand to not play aggresively. usually youll win it uncontested wich is fine and often when youre called youll find yourself up against an AJ AQ tyope hand or a smaller pair. theres always the chance of running into AA or QQ but you just dont have a deep enough stack to worry about it.

Matty,

I will agree that in the high buy in SnG's QQ is a lot stronger then it is in the $5 to 20 SnG's.

QQ vs Ax your a 3 to 1 favorite to win the hand.
QQ vs AK It's now a race.

Risk of ruin in a SnG is much greater then in a cash money game.

That is why I don't like to "shimmy it all in " early in a SnG. Why do I want to risk ruin for a $40, $60 or $80 pot. I don't suggest limping by any means. But like you said you push all in be it out of position or after someone has made a raise, your going to get called by Ax and he is going to spike an A a 3rd of the time and your going to be on the rail. The other 2/3rds of the time you are going to double up but what do you have now that you have doubled up? T2000? not a big advantage over the other 8 players that have anywhere from T700 to T1400. That is why IMO I treat QQ the same way I treat JJ or 10,10 early in a SnG.

I wouldn't re-raise all in with QQ nor would I push all in out of position. To many hands that can beat you.

getting called by AQ-Ax is exactly why i like to get it all in. sure youll lose 1/3rd of the time but having T2000 chips is a very big advantage and puts the liklyhood of getting into the money very high. 3-1 favorite is, in my opinion big enough to gamble in a sit n go.
