I was recently in a pot in the early stages of a NL SitnGo tournament and was dealt 56s in the BB. I had about $1500 chips as did most players at the table. A player in middle position limped first into the pot and the SB called, so I just checked to see a flop. I figured the MP for a smallish pocket pair and the SB for pretty much anything at this point. The flop came 78J rainbow when the SB came out and fired a pot sized bet which gave me exactly 2 to 1 pot odds. I folded the hand as did the MP limper, but my question is should I have called since I had 8 outs and was 2 to 1 to make my str8 by the river?

You're only 2:1 to make it with two cards to come. That should ONLY be a consideration if you're all-in. His pot bet likely means he also will bet the turn, where you will likely not have the odds to continue.

Fold the flop. When considering your odds of improving, only think of your odds for the next street, not both streets.

I think that is absolutely horrible advice.

1. You could be drawing DEAD! Not very likely since people love to slowplay the nuts but if opponent has T9 it doesn't matter what odds you get.

2. You have an opponent behind you yet to act.

3. You're drawing to the sucker straight. You shouldn't.

4. You do not have odds to draw.

5. You have no read since it is early.

6. Your stack is healthy and it is early, a bad time to get involved in marginal and potentially tournament-killing hands.
