I had just taken two consecutive bad beats at the $100s, so I decided to play a few 30s to change it up. Everyone's got 800 chips in front of them, give or take 50, and it's the 5th hand of the game.

I'm dealt in the big blind. I haven't played a hand yet, and I'm not paying close enough attention for really good reads. UTG+1 and MP2 call. SB completes, I check.

Flop: (pot $60)
SB checks. I bet $40, sort of as a semibluff, but mostly so that I will have a chance to bust somebody if I do hit my hand. Nobody dies for a pot that's only $60 on the turn after a draw hits.

UTG+1 calls, MP2 raises to $80, SB folds, Hero calls, UTG+1 calls.

Turn: (pot $300)

what do you do here? If you bet, what do you do if you're raised? If you check, what if MP2 bets into you? What do you do if the river is a blank? What do you think UTG+1 and MP2 have?

With the pot at $300, and my stack at 700 or so, I decide to bet $200. I'm almost sure that the miniraiser will at least call to give me some action, possibly raise me again. Also, I have enough chips to make a normal-looking all-in river bet that might smell like desperation.

UTG+1 calls 200, MP2 raises all in for about 750 (covered me). I called, UTG (!) called.

River is a blank. MP2 shows KK. UTG+1 shows K8o! I triple up.

I probably lead out again and hope to be raised so I can go all in. With so few chips, no need to get so tricky with this hand.

Reading the results show why you raise with big pocket pairs preflop and why you don't min raise.

I didn't read the results... so these might not make sense once I do read it... I'd lead out the turn for about 200-250, and, if he's any good, he's either raising you allin or folding there... I'm assuming he's got AK or KQ, and maybe KT 2pr for UTG+1... Either way, all my money's going in, and I'd rather it go in when I know I've got the nuts... The problem with checking is that when that 3rd club hits, your hand doesn't look as good anymore (even though neither of them are playing like they're in it for the flush...)...

I just read it, and WOW, a nice way to misplay a hand for the Ks... I'm not suprised by UTG+1, even though I gave him too much credit w/ the 2pr... People early in the $30s can't EVER lay down TP, doesn't matter the kicker...

I actually don't HATE MPs play, as I'll do it occasionally, and then just play it like TPTK, and can usually get one of these boneheads who can't let go of their AQ when a queen hits... BUT, minraising THAT flop, where people LOVE playing QJ for an openender, is a disgrace... I'm glad ya dicked him...
